Inviting the Sthaviras. Inviting the Sthaviras. In Sanskrit: Sthaviropanimantraṇaṃ. In Tibetan: Inviting the Sthaviras. Homage to the All-Knowing One! Please listen, monks. And having listened, may you be as stainless as crystal, jewels, silver, kumuda, a pile of snow, moonlight, autumn water, the open sky, and lotus roots. May you restrain within yourselves for a moment the mind that moves like a sapling swayed by the wind, a mirage, an illusion, a dream, lightning, dust from a horse-drawn chariot, the tip of a calf's ear, a snake's tongue, dew, and waves stirred by the ocean, through the power of the single-minded samadhi that does not stay for even a moment but goes out of compassion for beings. It is said: Even by the force of a torrent rushing down a mountain slope, There is no comparison to the force of its transformation. That mind, moving without obstruction and destructively, For a moment, monks, make it one-pointed! The eyes of a goddess, whose glances are drawn out and momentarily dimmed, Long and full, bright and radiant, with a captivating gaze, Whose mind has never been stirred by the arising of the continuum of existence, Pay homage to that single, skillful conqueror of the armies of Mara, the All-Knowing One! Whoever relies on him will not be reborn in the animal realm, Nor in the hells or the realm of the hungry ghosts, destroying suffering. He is the sole refuge, the friend of all great beings in samsara. Rely with reverence on that Dharma, the gateway to peace! Pay homage, all of you, to that monk and sangha, Who is the embodiment of peace, speaks of the complete teachings of the Sugata, And in whom even a small offering increases merit, Who dispels darkness with the light of wisdom, for the sake of cutting off afflictions! Whose head is adorned with a mass of braided hair, and whose two upper arms are covered, Whose own rays of light fill all the worlds in all directions, To whom Indra bows his crown and Brahma pays homage, Having given and rejoiced, the fruit of a mind of great samadhi.

This is the son. The garland of Vajra light intertwined with arm ornaments, appearing beautiful. Who is it that issues commands to the gods, ruling the realm of Indra? They do good deeds, and feel joy when the time of fruition arrives. These are the causes for the abundant manifestation of desired fruits. Fragrance emanates from the mouth, and the corners of the eyes are red. When breathing, the necklace sways, causing the breasts to protrude and drag. Who is it that dwells in the joyful garden with the beautiful woman, the master of wealth? This is also the great benefactor of generosity, bringing joy to beings. The sound of thunder roars, and the clouds gather water everywhere. When waves arise, jewels, coral, conch shells, and fish bladders appear. In the place of treasures, the water deity protects with his own wealth. There, the cause is the supreme generosity, so taught the Able One. Whatever light, with its rays suppressing the constellations in the sky. In the vast lotus pond, glory is fully revealed. Possessing the splendor of elephant tusks, the night is exceedingly beautiful. This is certainly the fruit of generosity, possessing many flavors. On the summit of Mount Meru, on the road where chariots travel, cutting precious stones. The limbs of the horse sever the waves of the nine-bend river.
