The venerable Lord said: Great King, the first is your image, and the second is the image of the Naga. Please place these two beautiful images in a large vessel made of gold, and then you will see them clearly. After doing so, the king later observed that the Naga's image was there, and the king's image was bowing to the Naga's image. The king was amazed, and the venerable Lord said: Great King, at this time, you will see different scenes day by day. In whatever way the king offers flowers, garlands, incense, perfumes, and unguents to the Tathagata, and in whatever way he satisfies the Sangha of monks with food and drink from his own hands, makes extensive offerings, and respectfully listens to the Dharma, in that way the king's image stands up, and the Naga's image bows to it. Afterwards, he saw the Naga's image bowing to the king's image with all its limbs, which made the king extremely happy, and he said to the venerable Lord: How wonderful! What a sight of the result of offering to the Three Jewels! The Naga dwelling in the ocean, Has been tamed by me and is under my control. Even for those of little wisdom, Who would not worship the Buddha? For that which immediately produces results, Who would not contemplate with their mind? Those who desire to attain great liberation, Gods and humans alike, Should truly worship the perfectly enlightened Buddha, Ending birth and having no rebirth. The teacher Lord, knowing that the time had come, said: Great King, you should also send the copper letter to me. The king sent that copper letter again. When it was thrown into the sea, the Naga king received the letter with his head. After that, he said to the king many times: Please send those divine merchants here, send each of their jewels, and I will return them. Afterwards, the king's messenger returned and told the king those words. After that, the king summoned the merchants and said to them: Go and take each of your jewels, and then come back.

The Venerable Wangpo said to the king: Although it is to offer dust to the Dharma King, then the king said to the Venerable Wangpo: Teacher, then how should I do it? The Venerable Wangpo said loudly: This is your punishment, carry it on your own shoulders and bring it here, and send the letter back with copperware. After that, the king wrote in the letter: For the punishment of violating the order of the supreme sovereign of Jambudvipa, carry it on your own shoulders and send it here. As soon as the letter was read, the Dragon King was frightened and said: If that's the case, I would rather die under seven umbrellas. When the king heard this, he announced in all the cities of Pataliputra (now Patna, India): Anyone who lives in this city, men and women, who want to see the difference in merit and the king's transformation, come to the king's palace on the seventh day. After that, on the seventh day, the king was completely surrounded by the people of the city, ministers, towns, and people from the countryside. With the king's great magical powers, great power, and great wealth, he went to the corridor and sat on the lion throne. After that, the Dragon King, surrounded by many dragons, transformed into the image of a human being, carrying the burden of jewels on their respective shoulders, went to the place where the great King Ashoka was, and after arriving, put down the burden and prostrated to the king's feet. The huge crowd was amazed and made a noisy sound, saying: We have seen what we have not seen before. They said: With such power of merit, the king is completely in control. People are amazed, and the gods are also here, with the desire for perfection, what is merit? Who would not do such a difference? What is unimaginable is also thought of, and that thing effortlessly matures into fruit for people. Walking, drunken elephants, horses and vehicles come to show off. Fighting with the residing dragons and gods. Not with powerful various weapons. With the pride of a painful head, such is the nature of merit, firmly bound with ropes.

Sa! Seeing the face of the sorrowless king, following in accordance with his kindness. And seeing that they came with various difficulties, rejoicing and praising the qualities of the Blessed One's words. The Blessed One spoke thus: Merit is not burned by fire, nor is it destroyed by wind. Merit is not dissolved by water, nor is it carried away like earth. Kings and thieves cannot steal the merit that abides. Men and women are not able to steal it. Merit is a treasure that produces happiness, it will not be left behind here, wherever one is born, it follows. Then another minister, having a rare thought, spoke thus: In the midst of the perfectly surrounding retinue, the king is beautiful with the adornment of merit. Like the autumn moon surrounded by stars. Dragons that travel in water and sky are certainly defeated by merit. The host of enemies dwelling on the earth is destroyed by merit. The happiness that is thought of in the mind is obtained by merit. Who would not be happy to accumulate this merit? The minister named "Accomplished by Secrecy" said: The Blessed One spoke thus: This merit is the purifier, merit is certainly the ladder of descent, the path to the heavens, the enjoyment of happiness by people is merit. Merit is the path to nirvana for yogis. Then another third minister said: Merit makes your face like the rising full moon. Even entering the ocean, there is no loss due to merit. Because of obtaining desirable things, merit is worthy of being worshiped by beings. People should strive to accumulate merit truthfully. The son of the king is victorious by merit, not by horses, nor by oxen. Not by chariots is merit overcome, not by arrows and swords. Not by wealth and land, nor by war is merit overcome. Victory by merit is not by lineage, strength, and appearance. People who are noble by merit abide on the three grounds. Merit is the abode of people.
