It is like having finished drinking. All the bonds of leakage lie dormant. The proximate afflictions are completely entwined. The river combines with the attachment knot. Obscurations, smoke, stains, and sins, All kinds of suffering are closely practiced. Leakage and poverty are completely bound. Strife, war, epidemics, and Forest combinations are called places. Desire, anger, ignorance, and Pride, views, doubt, and Anger and holding grudges, and Concealing, words, and jealousy, and Stinginess and deception, and Deceit, arrogance, harm, and shamelessness. Shamelessness, drowsiness, and excitement, and Disbelief and laziness, and Carelessness and forgetfulness, and Distraction, non-mindfulness. Extremely wise one, you should abandon them. In order to abandon those afflictions, Meditate on tranquility and insight, and Impurities, loving-kindness, dependent origination, and Remember breathing in and breathing out. The four applications of mindfulness are abandoned. Likewise, the feet of miraculous power, and The limbs of power, strength, and enlightenment, and Practice the limbs of the path. Thus, here, in brief, I send to you, wise one. May all beings, by that virtue, Quickly attain liberation and peace. The fourth chapter on abandoning afflictions.
