Do not abandon, this is the central decoration. The mandala of whatever shape you like, The master of the land, one cubit or more, Devoted to the meaning of secret mantras. Then with reverence, Offer to the Buddha and the three Bodhisattvas. Finally, recite what the Buddha said, These verses: Cow dung and water together are giving, To smear well is morality. Removing worms and ants is patience, Approaching work is diligence, That moment the mind is focused, Meditation wisdom is clear as a painting. Having made the Buddha's mandala, Obtain these six perfections. Turning into the color of gold, Be free from all diseases. Beautiful and bright as the moon, Gods and humans are born in noble places. Wealth and gold are abundant, Born into the royal lineage. The supreme palace of the Sugata, Whatever mandala is made, Do not do all evils, Merit is perfectly complete, Tame your own mind, These are praised by the Buddhas. Thus it is said. Then taking that virtue as the cause, Prostrate to the Three Jewels, Take refuge in the Three Jewels, I offer everything to you all, I confess all sins, Rejoice in the virtues of beings, In order to turn the supreme Dharma wheel, And to abandon complete Nirvana, I pray to you. These virtuous deeds, etc., Dedicate to unsurpassed Bodhi. For the sake of beings abandoning the heavy burden of suffering, My mind arises for Bodhi, Liberate those who are not liberated, release those who are not released, Those who do not breathe, I make them breathe, Those who have not attained Nirvana, I lead them to Nirvana. Thus, generate a firm Bodhicitta, and then engage in any good deeds you wish to do. King, if you, with a pure mind, generate joy in the vast virtues, Giving, morality, patience, diligence, meditation, wisdom, these six perfections. Vast increase, there also your mind strives without injury, The virtuous deeds of a person who does not guard the mind are like a child bathing in a stream of water. You must protect the mind of the wise! If you are thus free from worry, what more is there to ask? This is the essential instruction for benefit! Please subdue your mind, for the Blessed One said, "The mind is the root of Dharma." This single verse is what I have quoted from the "Letter to a Friend," the advice of the noble Nagarjuna to King Delightful Conduct of the Castle. O protector of the people, if you delight in the secret path, then on that path, which is difficult to understand, words that wound the mind may arise, and you should consider embracing women and so forth as discipline. Some openly engage in sexual misconduct and violent behavior, and if it harms the king's mind, then even the Buddha's teachings are like poison. Therefore, with the reason of entering the secret path, you should abandon this defilement of desire and so forth that stains your mind. You should strive to prevent others like that. The meaning of this is: When eating something after it has melted, the essence of butter, rock candy, and honey are like nectar. Eating it unmelted turns into poison. Likewise, the supreme nectar that is exceedingly abundant, for those who are not skilled in the words of meaning and who possess the mind of a child, it turns into the poison of a blazing fire. Thus it is said, and this is what is said in the Great Vehicle Sutra called "The Great Nirvana of the Holy One," which I have written here. In order to purify this precious mind, I have written here a little of the Buddha's teachings, may the mind of the lord of the earth become clear and bright like the full autumn moon! May beings also gradually purify their minds and become as pure as a flawless pearl!
