Therefore, strive to cultivate patience. In various ways, if you do not hold it with a peaceful mind, you will not experience joy and happiness. When the thorns of trees pierce the heart, there will be no sleepless steadfastness. If you do not separate from anger, then your life will be accompanied by harm. By destroying only one anger, you can destroy all hatred. The fire of anger spreads to the firewood of thought, burning sentient beings. First it burns oneself, then it burns others or not. Old age treats the body in the same way, anger and darkness treat the eyes, because of being separated from wisdom and possessing the purpose of desire, therefore destroy anger, and this should be applied to virtuous deeds. If you think that it will cause harm to yourself, or want to prevent harm, then this is a sinful mind, what is the use of anger? After abandoning the use of weapons and other actions, what else is there to throw? The cause of argument is anger, therefore praise hatred for anger. This is the twenty-fourth chapter, the words of patience. The treasure of all precious qualities is diligence, which is the vast and supreme thing that delivers all the ocean of afflictions. No matter what kind of chariot of diligence you ride, there will be no things that cannot be obtained through thinking, such walking does not exist. Elephants, horses, and infantry, bows and large bows, battle axes and weapons, use these to fight, and finally defeat enemies and obstacles, this is the mighty hero of diligence. The ocean is the abode of aquatic creatures, tall waves flow in layers, the hero with diligence will trample it like the footprints of a cow, thereby obtaining the treasure of priceless jewels. Vicious snakes such as greed, the diligent person on the body will abandon. The holy person with discipline, the mind is immaculate and superior, holds true equanimity towards people. On the beautiful peak of Mount Sumeru, embracing the delightful goddess, the heart is full of joy and happiness. Whichever god dwells in the sky, he will surely abandon paired things, thereby experiencing true bliss. Diligence is the root cause of producing extremely vast fruits, and it should be applied to the teachings.
