What kind of karma did he do, and what kind of karma ripened, that caused him to be born into a noble caste, and to be very beautiful, and to be able to see the truth? O you who have life, listen to me. In the past, when the lifespan of beings was able to reach forty thousand years, a Buddha named "Perfectly Complete Buddha, Krakucchanda" appeared in the world. When the Perfectly Complete Buddha, Krakucchanda, completed all the deeds of a Buddha and entered the realm of Nirvana without remainder, a king named "Beautiful" built a stupa made of four kinds of precious jewels, with a circumference of one yojana. When King Beautiful passed away, a person named "Without Faith" was placed on the throne. Those jewels that were not given were stolen, and only a broom and wood remained. When the people gathered there, they saw the stupa destroyed and cried out with a true voice, "Alas, alas, how painful!" A merchant's son also came and said, "Why?" They said, "There was a stupa of the Perfectly Complete Buddha, Krakucchanda, made of four kinds of precious jewels..." until they extensively restored the stupa to its original state.
