Therefore, one kind of speech is liberation from the types of sins. Among them, speech that separates others with a mind of affliction is divisive speech. Expressing non-loving words with such a mind is harsh speech. With such an intention, speech that is attached to other things besides falsehood, etc., is frivolous speech. If that is the case, then merely false speech expresses the collection of teachings that have been learned. Moreover, divisive speech, etc., are also not. Speaking in reverse, that is also extremely shameful. That is the very word of falsehood itself. Because everything must be controlled. Speaking in reverse is because it is extremely shameful. What is extremely shameful is false speech, merely entering, it enters into all other sins. It is said: Transcending one dharma, false speech is embodied. Transcending the other world, there is no sin that is not committed. Because it is said so. If this is the case, liberation from the misdeeds of body and speech, then how is liberation from the misdeeds of mind established? Because from the non-virtuous deeds of body and speech, liberation is the virtuous deed of mind. Therefore, liberation from covetousness, harmful intent, and wrong views are all established. Because it was just said. Liberation from the misdeeds of body and speech is liberation from virtue, that is, from the mind of the nature of non-attachment, non-hatred, and non-ignorance, it is established from the words "mind is the preceding dharma." Liberation from that is liberation from covetousness and harmful intent, and from views, that is, from wrong views. One part represents the whole, as before. Liberation is all established, so-called liberation, because of the many liberations, the liberated ones are also many words. Among them, covetousness refers to the evil desire to have other people's women and wealth, etc., become one's own. To beat these sentient beings, etc., thinking in a rough way, is harmful intent. Wrong view refers to the defiled and immoral wisdom that slanders karma and its results, etc. If that is the case, it will become the precepts of the eleven-limbed lay vows, so how does it become five limbs? The five-limbed precepts themselves are what one wants to enter.

This is indeed the precept of the five-branch lay follower's vows, which was previously taught by the Blessed One, initially to accommodate those of duller minds. It is with the thought that gradually, they can also turn away from other non-virtues. The Blessed One's intention is to turn away from everything. What is said here is that whether it be monks, or sons or daughters of good families who are endowed with faith, they will have faith. Faith will increase. In all ripenings of karma, they will have faith, certainty, and no doubt. Knowing that the fruits of black and white karma are not wasted, they will not do what is not to be done even for the sake of life. They will turn away from killing. From taking what is not given, from sexual misconduct, from lying, from divisive speech, from harsh speech, from idle talk, from covetousness, from malice, and from wrong view, they will turn away. They will engage in properly taking up the paths of the ten virtuous actions. They will not do the paths of the ten non-virtuous actions, and so on. Thus, the precepts of the eight-branch fasting should be understood. In this way, turning away from the eleven will be accomplished, either by taking up all of them, or some will break the precepts. Killing and stealing, complete consummation and another's wife, claiming as one's own and speaking falsely, are the causes of breaking the precepts. For those who have accomplished the five branches, causing an obstacle to life with medicine, weapons, etc., to those in the womb or those who have emerged, is one downfall. Stealing a fully complete four Karshapanas, or an object of its value, is the second. Taking another's wife by force or with her consent, is the third. Declaring false Dharma, claiming to possess knowledge of others' minds, etc., is the fourth. If this lay follower commits one of these four downfalls, just as a defeated monk is not a vessel, can he take vows again in this present life or not? Vows can be taken again. From such a person. Just like that, from what was said before.
