The Vinaya Questions in Verse: Kalyanamitra The Vinaya Questions in Verse Kalyanamitra In Indian language: Vinayapraśnakārikā. In Tibetan: The Vinaya Questions in Verse. I prostrate to the sun of omniscience, which dispels the many unbearable darknesses of doubt! Victorious sun, dispelling doubt, Having prostrated for a long time, From the Vinaya, having well gathered, I will explain the essence gathered from all questions. Whoever despises the Vinaya, And also reviles the right reasoning, And also holds pride in himself, For the sake of that, this is spoken. Sentient beings are the realm of humans, And also having abandoned all obstacles, It is said that vows do not arise, How is it? Please speak carefully. Intentionally thinking of killing parents, And expelling a Bhikshuni, And causing division in the Sangha, How is it said to be a field of vows? Having previously committed defeat, And being very careful with the Bhikshus, Whatever is the request for full ordination, How can it arise in that? Please speak. With a determined mind, the Three Jewels, To do the act of abandoning, The vows do not arise, Why is this? Please answer. Previously, with the ritual of action, Having well performed the full ordination, Afterwards, having engaged in sexual activity, Why does he not abandon the name of Bhikshu? Whoever abides as a Bhikshu, And also relies on desire, Why is annihilation not spoken of for him? Please speak to me with a question. If a Bhikshu is alone, without a companion, If he dwells in a place and becomes, How does he become defeated? The diligent in vows, please contemplate and speak. Whoever, possessing five limbs, Steals the wealth of others, It is not said to be defeated for him, Why is that? Please speak clearly. Whoever is diligent in vows and intelligent, Steals the past possessions of others, Why is it not said to be defeated? Please speak to me quickly. Diligent in vows, possessing value, Without abandoning the implements from the place, Why does it become annihilation? Please speak well to me with certainty. Diligent in vows, with a stealing mind, Taking what is not given from the place, Why is it not said to be defeated? Please tell me the reason. A Bhikshu possessing morality, Taking what is not given, possessing five limbs, It is said that there is no transgression if he steals.
