Sa! Just a moment of cultivating loving-kindness, The accumulation of merit cannot be harmed by rain. Gods and humans will be delighted and love it, The gods and others will also protect it. Mind will be happy and body will be happy, Poison and weapons cannot harm. Effortlessly, wealth will be obtained, And one will also be born in the Brahma realm. These eight aspects of the Dharma connection of loving-kindness, If practiced and not separated from, Generate the mind for all sentient beings, Contemplate the path to enlightenment. Like Mount Sumeru, steadfast, The mind of enlightenment will be attained. With faith, abandon the eight unfavorable conditions, With discipline, go to the path of happiness. By familiarizing oneself with emptiness, Undiminished merit will be attained. Without deception, obtain mindfulness, The mindful one will obtain wisdom. By being respectful, meaning will be realized, By guarding the sacred Dharma, intelligence will be obtained. By listening to the Dharma, giving, Without obscurations, doing deeds, Buddhahood will be quickly attained, Without attachment, meaning will be accomplished. Without stinginess, enjoyment will increase, Without arrogance, become supreme. By being patient with the Dharma, obtain retention, If the five essences are well given, From all fears, become fearless, Become greatly powerful and supreme, All enemies cannot harm. Before stupas and other objects, Offer garlands of lamps as offerings, In all darkness, light lamps, For lamps, offer oil and grains, The eyes of gods will be obtained. For the sake of offering to stupas and other objects, Sounds of bells and other categories, And for the sake of offering conches and drums, If various sounds are offered, The ears of gods will be obtained. Do not proclaim the faults of others, Seeing the mistakes of others, be like a mute, Following and guarding the minds of others, The ability to know the minds of others will be obtained. Giving broken shoes, boats, rafts, And vehicles and other objects, Rescuing those who have fallen into danger, And respecting all the gurus, The magical powers will be obtained. Remembering the fruits of the Dharma, Likewise, remembering the meaning of the Dharma texts, The ability to remember past lives will be obtained. Giving the immaculate Dharma as charity, And pure and diverse aspirations, The Buddha-fields will be adorned. By giving jewels, the power of the Victorious One, Immeasurable light will greatly increase. Truly knowing the nature of all things,

Through complete and accurate understanding, it becomes the supreme manifestation of knowledge. The sixth is the exhaustion of all defilements. These qualities, in brief, should be cultivated by the Bodhisattva: generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, wisdom, compassion, and so on. Giving away one's own possessions is generosity. Benefiting others is discipline. Patience completely abandons anger. Increasing white Dharma is diligence. Pacifying sinking and excitement is meditation. Correctly showing the meaning is wisdom. Having the same mind towards all sentient beings is called compassion. Generosity leads to obtaining enjoyment. Discipline leads to happy migrations. Patience leads to a beautiful form. Diligence leads to great clarity. Meditation liberates wisdom. Compassion accomplishes all purposes. These seven, without exception, simultaneously go to the other shore. The realm of inconceivable wisdom, the protector of the world, will surely be attained. Having thus understood the causes and effects, and having understood the unerring way, constantly benefit sentient beings. That itself will also benefit oneself. This is called "Certainty of Dharmas." For the sake of easy understanding for children, I have written it, having summarized it from other extensive treatises. By whatever merit is obtained from this composition, may all limitless sentient beings be liberated from the extremes of permanence and annihilation, and may they attain the unsurpassed state of enlightenment. The treatise called "Certainty of Dharmas," composed by the great Paṇḍita Ratnakīrti, is complete. Translated, revised, and finalized by the Indian Abbot, the great Paṇḍita Ratnakīrti, and the Tibetan translator Chings Yonten 'bar. "Treatise on the Certainty of Dharmas," Ratnakīrti.
