Those that are imputed to the state arising from form and mind, are neither the same nor different. What are those? Namely: attainment, the meditative absorption of non-perception, the meditative absorption of cessation, non-perception, the life faculty, similarity, birth, duration, impermanence, aggregates of names, aggregates of sentences, aggregates of letters, individuality, and those that are similar to such. What is attainment? It is obtaining and possessing. That is, seeds, power, manifestation, and should be combined appropriately. What is the meditative absorption of non-perception? It is being free from desire for the increase of virtue, manifesting the thought of arising that is not higher, by directing the mind, thereby ceasing the unstable dharmas of mind and mental factors. What is the meditative absorption of cessation? It is being free from desire for the sphere of nothingness, having previously directed the mind to the thought of dwelling that transcends the peak of existence, thereby ceasing the unstable dharmas of mind and mental factors, and also some of the teachings. What is non-perception? It is the result of the meditative absorption of non-perception, the unstable dharmas of mind and mental factors and cessation that are produced among the gods in the midst of the sentient beings of non-perception. What is the life faculty? It is, in the same kind, thrown by previous karma, the definite time of dwelling of all conditioned things. What is similarity? It is the similarity of the bodies of sentient beings. What is birth? It is, in the same kind, the arising of conditioned things from non-arising. What is aging? It is the transformation of their continuum in that way. What is duration? It is the continuous succession of their continuum in that way. What is impermanence? It is the cessation of their continuum in that way. What is the aggregate of names? It is the imputed expression of the nature of all dharmas. What is the aggregate of sentences? It is the imputed expression of the distinctions of all dharmas. What is the aggregate of letters? It is letters, in order to make both of those clear. Expression is also those, name

And because meaning is expressed by relying on words. Also, because letters do not change into other kinds. What is the state of being an individual ordinary person? It is not having obtained the Dharma of the noble ones. This is called the aggregate of formation. What is consciousness? It is the ability to distinguish objects. Mind and intellect are also the same, because they are diverse and serve as the basis of intellect. In reality, mind is the Alaya-consciousness, like this, it is the accumulation of the seeds of all formations. It is also the uninterrupted object and image. It is of the same kind and arises continuously. Like this, after arising from the cessation meditation and the non-perception meditation, consciousness that recognizes the object arises again, and depending on the condition of the object, it transforms into other forms, and after ceasing, it arises again, and it revolves and reverses in samsara. That very Alaya-consciousness is the basis of all seeds, and also the basis of the body, the cause, and the reason for abiding in the body. The consciousness of the aggregate of grasping is also it, because it can grasp the body. In reality, the mind is focused on the Alaya-consciousness, and is constantly associated with consciousness that is deluded about self, the view of self, the pride of self, attachment to self, and so on, and it arises continuously of the same kind, except for the time of the Arhat and the noble path and the cessation meditation. Why is it called an aggregate? Because it is an accumulation, that is, time, continuum, form, liberation, and the abbreviation of form, etc., of different objects. The twelve sources are the eye source, the form source, the ear source, the sound source, the nose source, the smell source, the tongue source, the taste source, the body source, the touch source, the mind source, and the dharma source. The eye, etc., and the form, sound, smell, and taste sources, etc., are also explained as before. The touch source is the four great elements.

This is an explanation of one aspect of what is to be touched. The mind-sphere is the aggregate of consciousness. The dharma-sphere is whatever is feeling, perception, formations, as well as non-manifesting form and the unconditioned. What is the unconditioned? It is space, non-analytical cessation, analytical cessation, and suchness. Among these, what is space? It is the opening for form. What is non-analytical cessation? It is that which is not separation from what is ceased, that is, the aggregates never arise permanently without the antidote to afflictions. What is analytical cessation? It is that which is separation from what is ceased, that is, the aggregates never arise permanently through the antidote to afflictions. What is suchness? It is the nature of all dharmas, and the selflessness of dharmas. Why is it called a sphere? Because it is the door for the arising of consciousness. The eighteen elements are the eye element, the form element, the eye consciousness element, the ear element, the sound element, the ear consciousness element, the nose element, the smell element, the nose consciousness element, the tongue element, the taste element, the tongue consciousness element, the body element, the touch element, the body consciousness element, the mind element, the dharma element, and the mind consciousness element. The eye element and so forth, and the form element and so forth, are just like the spheres. The six consciousness elements rely on the eye and so forth, and cognize by focusing on form and so forth. The mind element is that which has just ceased, because it is the permanent place of the six consciousnesses. Thus, it is established as the eighteen elements. Whatever is the form aggregate is the sphere and the ten elements, as well as the dharma sphere and one part of the element. Whatever is the consciousness aggregate is the mind sphere and the seven mind elements. The other three aggregates, as well as one part of the form aggregate, together with the unconditioned, are the dharma sphere and the dharma element.
