What is the conceit that is even greater than conceit? It is the arrogance of thinking oneself greater than the great. What is the conceit of "I am"? It is the arrogance of clinging to the five aggregates of appropriation as self or belonging to self. What is manifest conceit? It is the arrogance of thinking that one has attained superior qualities that have not been attained. What is the conceit of being slightly less? It is the arrogance of thinking oneself slightly inferior to those who are extremely excellent. What is wrong conceit? It is the arrogance of thinking that one possesses qualities when one does not. What is ignorance? It is not knowing karma and its results, the truth, and the Three Jewels. This is also divided into that which is co-emergent and that which is conceptually imputed. Attachment, anger, and ignorance that operate in the desire realm are the three roots of non-virtue, namely, attachment, hatred, and delusion are the roots of non-virtue. What is view? There are five views: the view of the aggregates as a self, the view of holding to extremes, wrong view, the view of holding views as supreme, and the view of holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme. What is the view of the aggregates as a self? It is the defiled wisdom that clings to the five aggregates of appropriation as self or belonging to self. What is the view of holding to extremes? It is the defiled wisdom that, based on that very view, holds to permanence or annihilation. What is wrong view? It is the defiled wisdom that slanders cause, result, or action, and destroys existing things. What is the view of holding views as supreme? It is the defiled wisdom that regards those three views themselves, and the aggregates that are their basis, as supreme, principal, especially distinguished, and sacred. What is the view of holding moral discipline and asceticism as supreme? It is the defiled wisdom that regards moral discipline and asceticism, and the aggregates that are their basis, as pure, liberating, and definitely leading to liberation. What is doubt? It is being of two minds regarding the truth and so forth. Of these afflictions, the lower three views and doubt are conceptually imputed, and the remainder are co-emergent and conceptually imputed.
