The Treatise on the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras. Maitreya. The Treatise on the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras. Maitreya. Herein lies the Treatise on the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras. In Sanskrit: Mahāyāna Uttaratantra Śāstra. In Tibetan: The Treatise on the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, realm, and enlightenment, qualities, Buddha's activity to the end, the body of all treatises in brief, these are the seven vajra points. These, the connection of their own characteristics, in order as in the King of Dhāraṇīs Sutra. From the basis of the discourse, three points are to be known. The basis is from the wise king's law of differentiation. From the Buddha comes the Dharma, from the Dharma comes the noble Sangha. From the Sangha, the essence, the wisdom realm is finally obtained. Having obtained that wisdom, the supreme enlightenment is obtained, etc. Possessing the qualities of benefiting all sentient beings. Whoever is without beginning, middle, or end, peaceful, the Buddha himself, self-awakened. From the Buddha, to awaken the unawakened, shows the indestructible, eternal path. Carrying the sword of wisdom and compassion, and the supreme vajra, cutting the sprouts of suffering. Surrounded by thickets of various views, destroying the walls of doubt, I bow to that one. Uncreated and spontaneously accomplished, not realized by the conditions of others, possessing wisdom, compassion, and power, is the Buddha himself, possessing two benefits. Without beginning, middle, or end, because it is self-nature, it is uncreated. Because it is the peaceful Dharmakāya, it is said to be spontaneously accomplished. Because it is to be realized by each individual, it is not realized by the conditions of others. Thus, to realize the three aspects, therefore it has wisdom. Because it shows the path, it has compassion. With the power of wisdom and compassion, it abandons suffering and afflictions. The first three are for self-benefit, the last three are for the benefit of others. Whoever is neither non-existent nor existent, nor both existent and non-existent, nor different from existent and non-existent, cannot be examined, is free from definition, is known individually, is peaceful, stainless wisdom, radiant with light, without attachment to all objects, destroys anger and darkness, I bow to that supreme Dharma sun. Without thought, without duality, without concept, pure, clear, the very side of the antidote, whoever is free from attachment by what, is truth.

The two characteristics are Dharma, Freedom from attachment is cessation, Collected by the truth of the path. In that order, they are also To be known by three qualities each. Because it is not to be examined, and because it is not to be spoken, Because it is known by the noble ones, it is without thought. It is peaceful, non-dual, and without conceptualization, The three, such as purity, are like the sun. Since the mind is naturally luminous, seeing that afflictions have no essence, Whoever realizes that all beings are without self, peaceful at the end, and perfectly, Following the complete Buddha, possessing a mind without obscurations, Homage to that being who has pure, infinite, and knowledgeable vision. Within the how and how much, Because the wisdom vision is pure, Because they are wise, the non-returning assembly, Possess unsurpassed qualities. Because they realize the peaceful nature of beings, That suchness is also, Because it is completely pure by nature, Because afflictions are exhausted from the beginning. With the wisdom that realizes the ultimate knowable, The nature of omniscient ones, Seeing that it exists in all beings, It is the nature of existing as much as there is. Whatever that realization is, It is the vision of individual self-knowledge. Without attachment to the stainless space, Because it is unobstructed, it is pure. Because the wisdom vision is pure, Because the Buddha's wisdom is unsurpassed, Because they are noble, the non-returning ones, Are the protectors of all embodied beings. Through the teacher, the teachings, and the meaning of learning, Depending on the three vehicles and three actions, Based on the faith of all beings, The three refuges are thus established. Because they are to be abandoned, because of their deceptive nature, Because they do not exist, because they are accompanied by fear, The two dharmas and the assembly of noble ones, Are not the ultimate supreme refuge. The refuge for those who go for the sake of the ultimate meaning, Is only the Buddha alone. Because the capable one possesses the Dharmakaya, And the Sangha is the ultimate of that. Because it is rare to appear, because it is stainless, Because it is powerful, and because it is the ornament of the world, And because it is supreme, Because it is immutable, it is the Three Jewels. The Tathagatagarbha with defilements and without defilements, The actions of the stainless Buddha, the victorious one with qualities. From which the three virtuous things of the Three Jewels arise, Is the object of those who see the ultimate meaning. The lineage of these three jewels, Is the object of all who see. That also knows the four types.
