Verses of the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutra. Maitreya. Verses of the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutra. Maitreya. In Sanskrit: Mahāyāna Sūtra Alaṃkāra Nāma Kārikā. In Tibetan: Verses of the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutra. I prostrate to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Understanding the meaning, explaining the meaning, being skilled in discourse, with words and sentences free from impurities. To liberate from suffering, with its own nature arising from compassion for suffering beings. In the manner of teaching the supreme Great Vehicle, with the Dharma's reasoning, for sentient beings. Revealing the meaning of abundance, becoming unsurpassed, teaching the nature of the five aspects. Like gold that has been hammered, and like a lotus flower in full bloom. Like a hungry person, enjoying well-cooked food. Like hearing a good letter, and like opening a precious box. Explaining this Dharma here also generates supreme joy. An appearance adorned, possessing inherent qualities, entering into a mirror. By the power of seeing, people generate supreme joy. Likewise, well-spoken words, constantly possessing inherent qualities. The Dharma also, by dissecting the meanings, causes the wise to generate supreme joy here. Like when smelled, it is extremely fragrant. Like when tasted, it is like a delicious medicine. The Dharma also abides in two aspects in that way. It should be known as meaning and words. This Dharma is difficult, vast, and profound. Like a king, it is difficult to please. If it can be pleased, then likewise. It bestows the wealth of supreme qualities. A jewel possessing lineage, of immeasurable value. The eye of one who does not know how to see is not pleased. Likewise, an unwise person, with this Dharma. If one can recite it, then likewise it pleases them. The first chapter of the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutra. Previously unpredicted, arising simultaneously. Not an object of practice, accomplished, and. Existing and not existing, existence and non-existence, and. Because of the antidote and different sounds. The Buddhas are the eyes of direct perception. They also protect the teachings. Even in time, wisdom is not obscured. Therefore, it is not permissible to abandon. Incomplete and contradictory, and. Not a means, therefore not taught in that way. This vehicle of the Hearers. Is not called the Dharma of the Great Vehicle. Intention and teaching, and. Application and reliance, and. Because of conflicting times, which is inferior. That is the only inferior one. Entering into one's own self

One's own discipline is also apparent, because of its depth and vastness, it is not contrary to the nature of Dharma. Conceptualization relies on uncertainty, is not pervasive, is mundane, and is repulsive, wanting to rely on children. Therefore, that is not its realm. Because of its vastness and depth, it is fully ripened and non-conceptual. Therefore, two things are shown from this, that is the unsurpassed means. Beings fear what is not their realm, which will cause suffering. Accumulating great non-merit, for a long time, without lineage, bad friends, not accumulating previous virtues, not taming the mind. One will be afraid of this Dharma, and here one will lose important meaning. Because it is deeper than others and non-others, and follows accordingly, showing various kinds, and constantly possessing showing through many gates. As said, it is not the meaning, the Bhagavan's intention is very deep. If the wise examine properly, they will not be afraid of this Dharma. Here, first, relying on hearing, arises attention. From proper attention, arises correct meaning realm wisdom. From that, one obtains Dharma, it exists, from that, wisdom increases. When it does not have its own self-awareness, how can it be determined? I do not understand, the Buddha is profound, not knowable. Why is it profound? Because it is not the realm of conceptualization. Why will those who know the profound meaning be liberated? That matter should not be a place of fear. Devotion to the inferior, and the nature is also extremely inferior. Completely surrounded by inferior friends. The profound and vast well-spoken Dharma, if there is no devotion to this, then it is established. After hearing, following accordingly, after obtaining wisdom, Who dwells extremely on hearing? On various inconceivable bodies, because of what kind of ignorance is it determined? If one completely distinguishes according to its meaning and sound, one will be arrogant and the mind will decline. Because of abandoning the well-spoken, one will be destroyed, anger and obscuration will arise towards the Dharma. The fault of the mind, its nature is poisonous, it is not suitable even for unsuitable images, what need is there to mention the Dharma that causes doubt? Therefore, maintaining abandonment, dwelling in neither good nor bad. In the Ornament of the Great Vehicle Sutras, the chapter on accomplishing the Great Vehicle, which is the second chapter. Pervading, acceptance, realization, and subjugation, are the nature of distinction, the difference of the four meanings.
