Commentary on the Noble Bhadra Caryā Praṇidhāna by Vasubandhu Commentary on the Noble Bhadra Caryā Praṇidhāna By Vasubandhu In Sanskrit: Ārya bhadra carya praṇidhāna ṭīkā. In Tibetan: Commentary on the Noble Bhadra Caryā Praṇidhāna. Homage to the Noble Samantabhadra! Homage to the Noble Tārā! The great Samantabhadra Caryā Praṇidhāna has ten meanings that are a summary of the essence: paying homage to the Tathāgatas, making offerings to them, confessing misdeeds, rejoicing in merit, requesting the turning of the wheel of Dharma, requesting not to pass into complete nirvāṇa, dedicating roots of virtue, its distinctions, its ultimate conclusion, and knowing its benefits. First, without making distinctions, generally, in all the fields of all directions, to the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, who abide in the three times, having made the body, speech, and mind manifestly pay homage, therefore it is said, "As many as," and so on. "As many as" means as many as there are, how many in number. However, that would completely limit the measure. Therefore, to show the general, inconceivable Buddhas, the Bhagavat, it is said, "Those," meaning that the number is countless. "Ten directions" means in the ten directions. "World" means beings. "All who have gone to the three times" means those who have gone to the three times, up to the three realms. Regarding "lion of men," because the name "lion" makes all afraid, and it itself has no fear of anything. The Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are also like that to the world including the gods, therefore they are like a lion, therefore they are a lion, and it also truly shows the birth of a human. It is both a human and a lion, therefore it is a lion of men, that is, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Among them, I pay homage means I bow down. "All" means that because of the intention of the speaker, the sound of "all" is seen even in one direction, therefore it is said "without remainder" for the meaning of completely taking without remainder. "With body, speech, and mind" means with supreme faith arising. Utterly tame

Due to being urged by the power of excellent understanding, body and speech are extremely harmonious. Now, let's explain separately the teachings on prostrations with body and so on. First, briefly explain prostration with the body. "By the power of the Good Conduct Prayer," and so on. "Good" means virtuous. "Good Conduct" is also it, conduct is also it, meaning the conduct of a Bodhisattva. For that meaning, prayer is aspiration and diligence. Its power is that it is not overcome by demons and so on, and it overcomes unfavorable sides, therefore it is called "its power." Such a form, if not like this, then the task will not be accomplished. Because of focusing the mind on one Buddha. If, like a Buddha-field, only praising with a body equal to dust particles, how can it become a prostration? It is taught: "All Victors, I manifest them with my mind," meaning all Tathagatas, each and every one, are manifested with the mind. Regarding "like the dust of all lands," and so on, prostrating with a body equal to the dust of Buddha-fields. The word "equal" is a synonym for equality, without difference, prostrating with a number of bodies equal to the dust of all Buddha-fields abiding in the ten directions and three times. "To all the Buddhas, I pay homage," Victor is the sound of overcoming afflictions, or overcoming demons, which is how the Blessed One Buddha is called. As it is said: "Sins, non-virtuous dharmas, arrogance, therefore approaching, I am the Victor." and so on. Paying homage to all the Victors abiding in the three times. Similarly, prostration with the mind. "In one atom," and so on. On top of one atom, that is, the tip of one atom. The so-called "number of dust particles in all lands," because there is no distinction, so here it also refers to the Sugatas equal to the dust of all Buddha-fields abiding in the ten directions and three times. "In the midst of the Bodhisattva assembly," meaning each and every one abides in the midst of immeasurable Bodhisattva assemblies, explained as faith and understanding. How on the tip of one atom, as it is, the types

This itself sees all without exception. The so-called Dharmadhatu means that the self-nature of all dharmas is the Dharmata, the realm of Suchness, which is called the Dharmadhatu. Such forms, only in the Dharmadhatu that reaches the limit of the sky, each and every one of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, surrounded by immeasurable Bodhisattvas, abiding on the dust, are completely perfect, constantly and continuously pervading, and should be aspired to with the mind. The actions of body and speech are all initiated by the mind, so the actions of the mind are taught in between. Now, the praise of speech is taught, such as "Their praise is inexhaustible," etc. The so-called "theirs" is their belief in suchness, without decay, without end, and without leakage, which is the inexhaustible ocean of praise, that is, the ocean of virtues. What is the inexhaustible ocean of praise of theirs? Here, the word praise is a synonym for virtue, and the word ocean should be regarded as a collection of many, that is, the inexhaustible ocean of virtues of theirs. "The ocean of limbs of sound, all sounds," as such, the word limb here is a synonym for virtue. What is it? Why is it? "The speech of the Bhagavat with five limbs," as such, it is taught in the Hearer Vehicle. In the Great Vehicle, it is said to be endowed with sixty limbs, endowed with hundreds of thousands of limbs, and endowed with immeasurable virtues. Among them, one should also understand "endowed with five limbs," etc. All is the sound endowed with the ocean of virtues of sound, that is, what is sound. The so-called "of all the Victorious Ones," etc., the virtues of all the Victorious Ones, that is, from the arising of the Bodhicitta, the immeasurable and unique nature of body, speech, and mind. Its declaration is the Abhisamaya, that is, the supremely good declaration. In front of each Sugata, I abide and praise all. Also, the inexhaustible ocean of praise is the same entity, this is the difference of virtues. The Sugatas and others declare the inexhaustible ocean of virtues of praise, which is the meaning of this. That is the supreme of those Buddhas, the Bhagavat
