A Commentary on Confessing the Downfalls of Bodhi, Called "The Order of Bodhisattva Training" Jetaari, Victorious Over Enemies. A Commentary on Confessing the Downfalls of Bodhi, Called "The Order of Bodhisattva Training" Jetaari, Victorious Over Enemies. In Sanskrit: Bodhisattvapat tidesha vritti bodhisattva shiksha krama nama. In Tibetan: A Commentary on Confessing the Downfalls of Bodhi, Called "The Order of Bodhisattva Training". Homage to the Noble Assembly! Having paid homage to the All-Knowing One, who sees all, I shall write the Bodhisattva's training with faith. For those who, having generated the mind of enlightenment, wish to surely attain excellence, this is taught in order to know the means of turning away from faults. These faults are classified as belonging to the category of defeat and the category of misdeeds. The category of defeat is also divided into two: those common to Hearers and those that are not common. Turning away from these is to take the three vows after generating the mind of enlightenment. Turning away from misdeeds is to confess to three individuals, to confess to one individual, and to confess to the thirty-five Buddhas. First, one temporarily takes refuge in a special object of reliance, and then prostrates and confesses sins. Then, one vows not to let the vows deteriorate in the future. Then, one dedicates all roots of virtue to unsurpassed enlightenment, and in order to abide in it in the future, one confesses sins, exhorts and prays, dedicates roots of virtue, and takes refuge. This is the condensed meaning. Now, the meaning of the branches will be explained. "I, named so-and-so," refers to someone like Lhajin or Chodjin. I take refuge in the Buddha! I take refuge in the Dharma! I take refuge in the Sangha! Because of abandoning and possessing wisdom, it is called Buddha. That is the three bodies: the Dharmakaya, the Sambhogakaya, and the Nirmanakaya. "In" is the "in" of place, the seventh of the four places. Taking refuge is to protect from harm such as afflictions. Dharma is the Dharma of scripture and the Dharma of realization. Sangha is the community of Hearers.

I, the Pratyekabuddhas and Bodhisattvas. The Hearers also have four who have entered the stream, and four who abide in the fruit. The Pratyekabuddhas also have those who abide alone, and those with assemblies and conduct. The Bodhisattvas also have the definite and the indefinite. The rest has already been explained. I prostrate to the Bhagavan Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha Shakyamuni Buddha. This is said to be for the sake of destroying the great realm of all the hosts of demons, the Bhagavan himself. The Tathagata is the one who speaks of Suchness without any deviation. The Arhat is the one who has attained all that is to be attained, is the supreme field of merit, and is worthy of offerings. Because he has truly understood the true meaning of all dharmas, he is called Samyaksambuddha. Shakyamuni is the one who has completely abandoned all defilements, reached the end, is firm in speech, has a perfect lineage, and has perfect power. The Vajra Essence Destroyer is the one who, because he is free from elaboration, destroys the clinging to things as real, like a diamond, which itself is the essence of everything and also the complete destroyer. Or, Vajra is a jewel. Essence is the center. Destroyer is power. Jewel Light is so called because it is similar to a jewel. The jewel of the gods has the qualities of being light, bright, dispelling all harm, producing merit, and being pleasing. Similarly, the true jewel also benefits beings by radiating the light of all qualities. King of the Nagas means having the magical power of the King of the Nagas, which is to rain on all crops. Its master is the owner. Their king is the Buddha Bhagavan. The host of heroes is the lineage of heroes, which can destroy the discordant side. Being pleased with this, it is called Auspicious Joy. Jewel Fire is a solitary place, it is precious, it can produce what is needed and desired, and it can burn the firewood of afflictions. Jewel Moonlight is as cool as the moon, free from the darkness of ignorance. Not tormented by the heat of conceptual thought. Seeing
