Commentary on the Mahayana Sutra Called "Noble Adaka Jnana," by Shantideva. Commentary on the Mahayana Sutra Called "Noble Adaka Jnana." Shantideva. In Sanskrit: Ārya Ati Jñāna Mahāyāna Sūtra Vṛtti. In Tibetan: Commentary on the Mahayana Sutra Called "Noble Adaka Jnana." Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Having paid homage to the immaculate, wise guide who has accomplished the benefit of self and others, Who possesses the two bodies, I will make great effort to clarify the meaning of Adaka Jnana, Which illuminates the meaning of the nature of reality. Thus, it is said, "Thus have I heard, at one time," and so forth. In that, it is explained that in order to dispel the wrong conceptions of some Hearers, it is endowed with four aspects of words. It is said, "The Bhagavan dwells in the palace of the king of the Akanishta gods," and so forth. The Bhagavan is the one who has conquered all afflictions and near afflictions. "Endowed" means endowed with six qualities. "Gone beyond" means not abiding in either samsara or nirvana. As it is also said in the Abhisamayalankara: "Not on this shore or the other shore, not abiding between them, knowing all times as equal." Again: "Samsara and nirvana, these two are not existent; for one who fully knows samsara, it is called nirvana." Therefore, it is the Bhagavan. Some say that it is also the same as being called Buddha because of awakening from the sleep of ignorance and for the sake of increasing wisdom. Or, "conquered" means conquering the four maras, and "endowed" means endowed with qualities. Having explained the teacher, the place is Akanishta, because the king of the gods, the god who is free from conceptualization, dwells in that Akanishta, the pure land of dense array, hence it is his palace. By the conduct of dwelling, or it is explained as by samadhi. In order to show the person who relies on the questioner for teaching the Dharma and teaching other pure Dharmas, at that time, Bodhisattva Mahasattva Akashagarbha asked. Among them, the teacher, the pure Bhagavan, is endowed with the complete enjoyment body, so the place is Akanishta, the questioner is the pure Bodhisattva, so that suchness, union, etc., are the meaning of mantra.

There are also commentaries. The words of the question are: "Venerable One, Blessed One, how should a Bodhisattva observe the mind at the time of death?" Thus it is said. To this, it is enough to be too verbose about the Blessed One, etc. Bodhisattva means that Bodhi is the nature of space, because all conceptualizations are abandoned. After saying this, giving is great, wisdom is great, power is great, entering the supreme Great Vehicle of the Buddhas, putting on great armor, subduing the illusions of demons, therefore it is called a great hero. As it is said, it is also the meaning of the great earth, and it is also said to be brave for the sake of sentient beings. The noble one is the noble one who is far away from karma and defilements, because he has destroyed the spokes of dependent origination. Therefore, it is explained from the word Arhat. Representing by name, the dying time of sentient beings sealed by the four Dharma seals by Akashagarbha, because it is impermanent, it is the sentient being who revolves in the twelve branches of dependent origination, and it is impermanent. At the time mentioned in the sutras such as the Sutra of Subduing Yama, the Lord of Death, how should one observe the mind? When asked in this way, the Blessed One taught: "Akashagarbha, it is good that you asked me, listen with a joyful mind. I will explain it well." Thus he taught: From the beginning, one has not realized one's own mind, so one wanders in samsara, so it is impossible to escape from birth, old age, sickness and death. Because it has not gone beyond the law of dependent origination. Therefore, if you want to be free from birth, old age, sickness and death, you should practice the spontaneously accomplished, non-elaborate Nirvana wisdom. From the point of time, one should practice the meditation at the time of death. That is, one must work hard to do things, and one can achieve it through hard work, just like having a fire on one's head. As it is said, one should practice diligently, and after indicating it together with the object of practice, it is to explain the nature of those things, as well as elaboration, so ask, what is Nirvana wisdom? To this, taking it as an object, is the practice of wisdom. How to practice? All dharmas are empty in nature.
