and so on. In order to purify generosity etc., one comprehends. By meditating on loving-kindness, the mind of anger is subdued, which is said to show the complete purification of the perfection of patience. Even without abandoning samsara, by what means does the collection of paths, that is, the means of generating that collection of paths, subdue the afflictions even while dwelling in samsara? This shows the complete purification of the perfection of means. The truths are suffering etc., and by what knowledge is the correct understanding of them completely severed? That is the collection of truths, and that etc. is the antidote, that is, the subduing. Its essence is itself. How does it change? It is said to be through generating the non-inverted path. By what difference of aspiration, in order to fully hold the birth that is in accordance with the arising of the non-inverted path, it is called that. This shows the complete purification of the perfection of aspiration. The rest are not added because they are easy to understand. Son of lineage, these other ten are the grounds of taming for bodhisattvas, great beings, and so on, the explanation of which is where to abide and comprehend, and so on. The three vows are for the vows of body, speech, and mind, because they are completely pure. That is explained by the three words, such as taming the body itself. The explanation of the sutra words such as taming the inner self is the complete abandonment of self-grasping. Not being attached to the eight worldly dharmas such as blame and praise is the taming of the external object, and therefore it is said in the manner of not being attached to all dharmas. Its explanation is the complete abandonment of blame and non-blame. Mentioning blame and non-blame is representative. That which is not attached to the collection of wisdom is itself taming. How does it change? It is said to be in the manner of not being attached to the path, its explanation is not being attached to existence and non-existence. Because it does not exist in the nature of imputation, it is existent.

There is no attachment to appearances. Because it exists with the nature of the perfectly established, there is no attachment to appearances. The noble ones are the Hearers and so forth, and these are the states of uncontaminated wisdom. Discriminating about them is discriminating about the very nature of emptiness, and this is explained as individually discriminating on the grounds of Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas in a non-apprehending manner. If one discriminates in this way, one will not praise oneself. Therefore, praising oneself will become subdued. The later end is the continuation of future births. Its purification is Nirvana, the characteristic of transformation of the basis. To completely purify it is to abandon all discriminations, because discriminations are the afflictions of Bodhisattvas. Abiding free from all discriminations is abiding in the Perfection of Wisdom, arising there and abiding in its very nature. Its explanation is called being free from all grasping. Explaining based on conventional and ultimate truths is terminology. How does one become extremely subdued? It is said that it is in a way that does not deceive all sentient beings. Showing conventional and ultimate truths as they are appropriate is not deceiving, and this is explained as indicating the non-inverted path by being skilled in conventional and ultimate truths. Not regarding body and mind is subdued, and the explanation of the words of this sutra is that one is not weary of all births for the sake of taming sentient beings. The essence of the words is only the words themselves. The explanation of this part of the sutra is that the attainment of Dharma in accordance is fully shown by non-deception. Accomplishing the path is making the path of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas manifest, and this is explained as making the vehicle of Hearers and Solitary Buddhas manifest. Accomplishing abandonment is not desiring even after making the path of Hearers and so forth manifest. This is explained as not desiring them. Furthermore, entering the good path oneself and also showing that path to others is the accomplishment of taming oneself and

The explanation of the practice for maturing sentient beings, that is, in order. The practice of wisdom with effort, the explanation of this is that abiding in the stage of aspiring conduct, wisdom accompanied by manifest engagement, that is, the stage of aspiring conduct is the stage of ordinary beings. The stages of conduct are the seven stages. The accomplishment through spontaneously accomplished wisdom, the explanation of this is that abiding on the path of cultivation, it is through wisdom without manifest engagement, that is to say, what is included by the eighth stage and so on is regarded here as the path of cultivation. The practice of being skilled in establishing the stages, the explanation of this is, being skilled in wisdom and means. The undifferentiated stage is the characteristic of emptiness, the explanation of that is following one characteristic. The fault of the stage is manifest attachment to the grasped and the grasper, that is, completely abandoning it. That is explained by "completely abandoning the pervasive practice of the two." Jumping from stage to stage is going from the previous stage to the later stage, being skilled in practicing that. That is also transformed by the path of cultivation, that is explained by "having begun the diligence of cultivating virtuous Dharma." The practice of showing the stages of hearers and solitary buddhas, the explanation of this is, again, all Dharmas have been well practiced. The stainless Suchness is the Buddha, realizing its enlightenment, whatever is the irreversible path from that, that is the manifest practice of it. The explanation of that is, being skilled in the meditation of realizing Suchness. Thus, the conduct gathered by the four excellent purities shows the excellent distinctions, that is, it shows the path of accumulation and purity, shows the accumulation of merit and wisdom, and shows the means of realizing the true limit, and extensively shows the practice of cultivating the Dharma that is in accordance. Having manifestly made these four pure causes, the Bhagavan spoke by saying "to those who practice in this way," that is, the practice of the pure causes as spoken. The explanation of that is:
