Ultimately, the meaning of the mantra is summarized in four ways. What are these four meanings? Like an illusion, emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness. The so-called "Tadyatha" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, tat yathā, literal Chinese meaning: thus it is) means: The so-called "Gate Gate" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, gate gate, literal Chinese meaning: go, go) means that all recollection has reached the state of being like an illusion. The so-called "Para Gate" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, pāra gate, literal Chinese meaning: go to the other shore) means that on the other shore of recollection, one has reached emptiness. The so-called "Para Sam Gate" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, pāra saṃ gate, literal Chinese meaning: completely go to the other shore) means that on the other shore of illusion and emptiness, one has reached the state of signlessness. The so-called "Bodhi Svaha" (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari, bodhi svāhā, literal Chinese meaning: enlightenment accomplished) means that all afflictions and knowable things are purified, transcending wisdom. These establish the four non-abidings, the four direct perceptions, and the four samadhis. In order to diligently practice such teachings, the Buddha told Shariputra that Bodhisattvas, great Bodhisattvas, should thus study the profound Prajnaparamita, that is, to practice diligently. Then, the Blessed One arose from that samadhi, which means arising from the profound samadhi, and although not abiding in meditation, he abides in equality for the appearance of sentient beings, and to show that he has attained the fruit. To the Bodhisattva, great Bodhisattva, Holy Avalokiteshvara, because he truly and unerringly explained the meaning of the profound Prajnaparamita, the intention of the Buddhas of the three times, the Buddha looked upon him with the eye of a Buddha and praised him, saying "Well done!", expressing joy, and through the samadhi of profound appearance, said twice, "Well done! Well done!". The so-called "Son of good family, it is just so," is spoken for the sake of those who believe in the nature of appearance of the Mahayana lineage. The meaning of "just so" is that the phenomena of appearance cannot liberate the mind. The so-called "Son of good family, it is just so," means that if one realizes the profound nature of reality, the mind can be liberated. The so-called "As you have taught," is because for worldly people, as long as they exist in the world, they must rely more on things that are like illusions. Transcending the world.

Having manifestly awakened into unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, contemplating the benefit of sentient beings, one must rely solely on the profound Dharma-nature. One should practice the profound Prajnaparamita, and for those who seek the path of liberation, because they must rely solely on the profound, it is repeatedly and many times proclaimed. To those virtuous spiritual friends who are devoted to the profound meaning, the Tathagatas who abide in the three times also rejoice and praise. After the Bhagavan spoke thus, the venerable Shariputra and the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Arya Avalokiteshvara, and all the retinue with all, the world with gods, humans, asuras, and gandharvas rejoiced and praised what the Bhagavan had spoken, and because it is easy to understand, it was not explained. The commentary on the Bhagavati Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra, called "The Lamp of Meaning," composed by Pandita Chagna Dorje, is completed. In the city of Yairang in Nepal, when the Tibetan virtuous spiritual friends requested the Dharma in the presence of the venerable and holy Lama Chagna Dorje, on the day when the Lama gave the Dharma discourse, the Tibetan virtuous spiritual friends recited the sutra. The holy Lama asked the translator what they were reciting. The translator replied that it was the Heart Sutra of Prajnaparamita. The Lama said, "If the Heart Sutra of Prajnaparamita is propagated in Tibet, then the Buddha's prophecy is true." The Lama asked if the translator knew the key to the meaning of the Heart Sutra. The translator replied that he did not know. The Lama said, "Then I will teach you the key," and then it was recorded and carefully attended to. Having drunk the honey-like nectar of the lotus feet of the holy Lama, who would listen to the ravings of the mad bee of unborn great bliss? If you consider that there may be truth in the words of a madman, then please, friendly friends, even if you think it is not true, please consider this meaning. If emptiness is a means, then the Buddha himself will not change. There is no result different from the cause.

Therefore. Skillful means are not emptiness. For the sake of dispelling those with wrong views, And those who seek after the view of self, For the sake of averting the clinging to self, The Buddhas taught emptiness. The mother of the victorious ones of the three times, the equality of samsara and nirvana, Shows the skillful means that accomplish the happiness of beings. To the essence of the scriptures, like a precious jewel, I repeatedly prostrate with faith and reverence. May this commentary, written with joy and altruistic intention, Be transmitted into the hands of holy beings, And may it accomplish the activities of the teachings, this is my aspiration. By the truth of the nature of reality, may it be thus accomplished! The Indian abbot and the translator, the monk Singha Dhvaja, revised and finalized it. The commentary on the Heart Sutra of the Bhagavati Prajnaparamita, called "The Lamp of Meaning." Vajrapani.
