, and the faultless Dharma, and the true limit, and the inconceivable realm, do they practice the Prajñāpāramitā? The Blessed One said: Subhūti, up to the point of saying "no," if form and other things do not practice the Prajñāpāramitā, then do form and other things, which are nonexistent and belong to the category of emptiness, practice the Prajñāpāramitā? When asked, since all dharmas are empty by nature, there is neither a practitioner nor something to be practiced. Therefore, form and other things that belong to the category of emptiness also practice the Prajñāpāramitā, as was shown. Subhūti asked the Blessed One: Blessed One, if those dharmas do not practice the Prajñāpāramitā, how does a Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva practice the Prajñāpāramitā? In the manner previously mentioned, if there is a dharma that does not practice the Prajñāpāramitā, why is that? The Blessed One said: Such practice is the practice of the Prajñāpāramitā. He asked, holding onto this point. The Blessed One said: Subhūti, what do you think? Have you seen any dharma that practices the Prajñāpāramitā? Subhūti replied: Blessed One, I have not. This is to show that the Bodhisattva who practices is not truly existent. The Blessed One said: Subhūti, what do you think? Have you seen the Prajñāpāramitā that the Bodhisattva-Mahāsattva practices? Subhūti replied: Blessed One, I have not. This is to show that the Prajñāpāramitā that the Bodhisattva practices is not truly existent. The Blessed One said: Subhūti, what do you think? Is the dharma that you have not seen an object of focus? Subhūti replied: Blessed One, it is not. This is to show that both the practitioner and the object of practice are not real in the ultimate sense, and therefore there is no object of focus.

The Earth declared: "Subhuti, what do you think? Can that which has no object of reference arise or cease?" He replied: "Bhagavan, it cannot." This shows that, in reality, all dharmas have no object of reference, so there is no arising or ceasing. The Bhagavan said: "Subhuti, the patience with regard to the non-arising of dharmas of bodhisattva mahasattvas..." up to "their dharmas will never diminish until they manifestly awaken to unsurpassable, perfect, complete enlightenment." This shows the benefit that if one obtains patience with regard to the non-arising of dharmas, the qualities of a bodhisattva will not decline. Subhuti asked: "Bhagavan, how is it that a bodhisattva mahasattva is predicted to attain unsurpassable, perfect, complete enlightenment from that which is the very non-arising of all dharmas?" This is because the Bhagavan previously said that a bodhisattva mahasattva who possesses such patience is predicted to attain unsurpassable, perfect, complete enlightenment by the Tathagata Bhagavan. Since all dharmas have no arising, is there also prediction? The Bhagavan said: "Subhuti, it is not so." This means that prediction is merely a conventional expression. In reality, since all dharmas are unproduced by nature, there is no prediction whatsoever. He asked: "Bhagavan, how is it that from that which is neither arising nor non-arising... how will a bodhisattva mahasattva be predicted to attain unsurpassable, perfect, complete enlightenment?" This shows that if there is no prediction from existence, non-existence, or both existence and non-existence, then why did the Bhagavan say that a bodhisattva who practices in that way is predicted to attain unsurpassable, perfect, complete enlightenment? This was asked in a questioning manner. The Bhagavan said: "Subhuti, what do you think? Who is the unsurpassable, perfect, complete

From "Do you truly see the Dharma that will be prophesied to attain enlightenment?" to "Why is that? Because, Subhuti, the Prajnaparamita is non-conceptual," the statement "being prophesied to attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment" is merely a conventional designation. In ultimate reality, there is no object of prophecy whatsoever. There is no Bodhisattva who attains perfect enlightenment, no wisdom by which one attains perfect enlightenment, and no Dharma to be perfectly awakened. The Bodhisattva also does not think, 'I will attain perfect enlightenment, wisdom will cause me to attain perfect enlightenment, and these Dharmas will be perfectly awakened by me.' Because the Prajnaparamita is non-conceptual, the Bodhisattva is also non-conceptual in that way." This is what is being explained. From the Extensive Explanation of the Holy Prajnaparamita, the Forty-sixth Chapter. Forty-sixth Chapter: The Chapter on Abandoning Conceptualization.
