Chapter Thirty, The Chapter on Absence of Focus. Chapter Thirty, The Chapter on Absence of Focus. Then, the venerable Subhuti asked the Blessed One, saying, and so forth, which is to show the different names of this profound Prajnaparamita. Blessed One, for example, this Prajnaparamita is the Paramita of Non-existence, because in the ultimate sense, the nature of Prajnaparamita is not established as existent, therefore it is said to be non-existent. The Blessed One said: Because space does not exist. It is the Blessed One who explained the meaning of what Subhuti said with a metaphor, just as there is no entity in space, so is this Prajnaparamita. In the ultimate sense, there is no entity, like the meaning of space. The Paramita of Equality, as mentioned above, is empty in nature and like space, without size, height, inferiority, good, bad, etc., so it is shown as equality. All dharmas are equal, which means that all dharmas, conditioned and unconditioned, are empty in the ultimate sense and have no self-nature. In suchness, they are of one taste and are equal, so Prajnaparamita is also the same, showing equality. It is the Paramita of Solitude, which means that it is solitary because it is separated from the two extremes of existence, non-existence, permanence, and cessation. Transcending the limits because of emptiness, it is to explain the meaning of solitude, which means that it transcends the limits of existence, non-existence, permanence, cessation, etc., and is solitary because it is empty in nature. The invincible Paramita means that this Prajnaparamita is not established as real, so the opponents of other religions such as heretics cannot find flaws, and it means that it cannot be defeated in any way. Because all dharmas have no focus, it is to explain the meaning of invincibility, in the ultimate sense, all dharmas have no focus.

It is shown that because the Prajñāpāramitā is also without object, it is unattainable. The so-called 'gone beyond without a place' is to show that the nature of the five aggregates has no place or basis. The so-called 'because there is no name and body' is to explain the meaning of 'no place'. 'Name' refers to the four aggregates of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness, and 'body' refers to the aggregate of form. Thus, the nature of name and form, the five aggregates, are absent, which is called 'no place'. This is what is to be shown. The so-called 'gone beyond like the sky' means that the nature of name and form, called 'place', is like the sky because the five aggregates are absent. This is the meaning to be expressed. The so-called 'because there is no breath moving in and out' means that it is not the nature of the five aggregates, and because there is no breath moving in and out, it is like the sky. This is the meaning to be expressed. The so-called 'gone beyond what cannot be expressed' means that it cannot be expressed in the names and concepts that are grasped as signs. This is the meaning to be expressed. The so-called 'because there is no conceptualization and analysis of objects' is to explain the meaning of 'inexpressible'. All that is expressed in words arises from the mind's conceptualization and analysis, grasping at signs, and then assigning names and concepts. If there is no conceptualization and analysis, there is also no expression in words. This is what is to be shown. The so-called 'gone beyond without a name' is to show that the four formless aggregates have no nature. The so-called 'because there is no feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness as objects' is to explain the meaning of 'without a name'. 'Name' refers to the four formless aggregates: feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness. Not being their nature is called 'without a name'. This is the meaning to be expressed. The so-called 'gone beyond without migration' is to show that the Prajñāpāramitā is empty in nature and does not move. Therefore, it does not go anywhere in the three realms and five paths. This is what is to be shown. The so-called 'because all dharmas have no migration'

This is an explanation of the meaning of having no destination. In the true sense, all dharmas have no substance, therefore they do not go or come anywhere in the three realms and the five paths of samsara. Similarly, the Prajnaparamita has no substance, therefore it does not go or come anywhere, this is its meaning. The so-called "unseizable Paramita" means that the Prajnaparamita is empty in nature, so it cannot be seized and changed by demons and heretics who have evil views, this is its meaning. The so-called "because all dharmas are ungraspable" is an explanation of the meaning of unseizable. All dharmas are empty in nature, so they cannot be grasped as names and forms. Similarly, the Prajnaparamita cannot be grasped as names and forms in the true sense, so it is unseizable, this is what is to be explained. The so-called "no-moment Paramita" means that the Prajnaparamita is empty in nature, so it does not abide in the continuity of moments, this is its meaning. The so-called "because all dharmas are purified and exhausted" is an explanation of no-moment. All dharmas are empty and non-existent in nature, which is called purified and exhausted. Therefore, because it is empty and non-existent, it does not abide in the continuity of moments, this is its meaning. The so-called "unborn Paramita" means that the Prajnaparamita has no substance in the true sense, so it is of the nature of unborn, this is its meaning. The so-called "because all dharmas have no birth and death" is an explanation of unborn. In the true sense, without substance there is no birth and death, therefore the Prajnaparamita is also unborn, this is what is to be explained. The so-called "no-agent Paramita" means that the Prajnaparamita has no substance in the true sense, so it is of the nature of doing nothing, this is what is to be explained. The so-called "because the agent is unattainable" is an explanation of no-agent. In the true sense, because no real existence is established, the nature of the agent is unattainable, therefore this Paramita is also not an agent, this is its meaning.
