This is to show that the Prajñāpāramitā is the chief of all the pāramitās. Kauśika, for example, from "like the trees of Jambudvipa have various kinds of leaves" to "no particular or difference can be distinguished," this is explaining that the Prajñāpāramitā is more important than other pāramitās, which is explained from the analogy of trees and shadows. From the various things such as the color and shape of trees, the names and types of trees can be distinguished. However, for the shadows that arise depending on these trees, the types and names of trees cannot be distinguished. Similarly, the Prajñāpāramitā is like a tree, it is the main one; while the other pāramitās are like shadows, arising from the cause of the Prajñāpāramitā. This is Indra's request. World Honored One, the Prajñāpāramitā is for the sake of completely perfecting all qualities, possessing great qualities, from "possessing great qualities" to "possessing universally boundless qualities," this is explaining that because the Prajñāpāramitā is the chief of all the pāramitās, it possesses great qualities, possesses immeasurable qualities, and possesses universally boundless qualities. World Honored One, if any son or daughter of good family writes and makes this Prajñāpāramitā into a book, from "writing and making this Prajñāpāramitā into a book" to "if someone writes this Prajñāpāramitā and gives it to others with the joy of Dharma, then the merit of that son or daughter of good family will greatly increase," this is explaining that writing and making this Prajñāpāramitā into a book is even more meritorious than holding and using it oneself. Just as offering to the relics of the Tathāgata oneself is less meritorious than giving to others to let them make offerings, from this analogy it is explained that giving this Prajñāpāramitā to others to use is more meritorious. Kauśika, furthermore, if any son or daughter of good family, according to what has been said, goes to another and explains the Prajñāpāramitā.

And from "teaching" onwards, write this Prajñāpāramitā, and make offerings with flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, victory banners, flags, and various musical instruments. Respect, honor, and worship it. Up to "worship," it means that holding and reciting this Prajñāpāramitā, etc., and writing it in a book and giving it to others, the merit and benefit are greater than before, because explaining, interpreting, and clarifying its meaning and words to others brings even greater merit and benefit. This is taught because teaching in this way has greater benefits, and the reason is that the bodhisattva who teaches in this way performs actions similar to those of the Buddha Bhagavan. Furthermore, the Prajñāpāramitā that should be truly taught, and the bodhisattva who teaches it, these two are shown to be inseparable. Moreover, by studying this Prajñāpāramitā, the Buddhas of the three times, bodhisattvas, śrāvakas, and pratyekabuddhas each attain their respective fruits, also because of teaching and explaining this Prajñāpāramitā. Therefore, teaching in this way increases merit greatly. Kauśika, I have truly seen the truth of that matter, from "attaining unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment" onwards, to "the sons or daughters of good families of the Śrāvakayāna, and the sons or daughters of good families of the Pratyekabuddhayāna, they would offer, respect, honor, and worship this Prajñāpāramitā with flowers, garlands, incense, unguents, powders, clothes, umbrellas, victory banners, flags, and various musical instruments, what need is there to say..." it means that when the Tathāgata attains enlightenment and becomes a Buddha, if he thinks about what dharma he should worship and rely on, then he should rely on this Prajñāpāramitā, because I attained enlightenment by relying on it, so I would think, I should make offerings, respect, etc., to it, and in the world

Or similar, there is no one more superior than me, like me, one should also make offerings and respect to this Prajnaparamita, if one wishes to attain unsurpassed Bodhi from this, and for those who have entered the Hearer and Pratyekabuddha vehicles, there is no need to mention making offerings and respect, etc. Having seen such a great meaning, one should master this meaning, therefore, one should make even more offerings and respect to this Prajnaparamita. Why? Because from the Prajnaparamita arose the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, until the practitioners of the Pratyekabuddha vehicle, attain or will attain Pratyekabuddha Bodhi, or will attain it. This Prajnaparamita is the main cause common to all three vehicles, therefore, if one makes offerings and respect, etc., the merit will be even greater, this is what is to be explained. The twenty-third chapter of the extensive explanation of the Hundred Thousand Verses of Prajnaparamita. Twenty-third, Chapter on Relics.
