Chapter Four Chapter Four Thus, having shown the realization of the object, since the object is the result of associating with the object, therefore, stating the realization of the association is to fully understand the three omniscients. Due to the distinctions of being subject to the object of complete understanding, being superior, being taught, and being ultimate, there are also four types of association. The first of these is the object of the nature of the three omniscients, and the association of the nature of subsequent accomplishment, and the cause of its arising and non-arising, the qualities and faults of its nature, and the cause of fully understanding the nature of its nature, and the nature of the part of liberation, the path with outflows, and the part of determination, the path without outflows, and the nature of the irreversible learner, the small, medium, and large realizations, and the nature of equality, the cause for the Dharmakaya, and the nature of the pure land, the cause for the Rupakaya, and the nature of skillful means, the aspect of being for the benefit of others, there are eleven distinctions. Among these, the nature of the general difference of the aspects that become objects should be stated as its own nature and its superior difference. By what nature does it become the antidote to the opposing side that holds onto permanence, etc., that is, focusing on impermanence, etc., this is also uncommon, so it is the self-characteristic of the aspects. What is the difference in the state of each of the three omniscient paths, that is the superior difference of the aspects. Both of these, briefly speaking, are called grasping at permanence, etc. In particular, it is the nature of permanence, and non-arising, and self, and its blessing, because it is not attainable. In order, on the truth of suffering, there are the aspects of non-existence, and non-arising, and emptiness, and non-peacefulness. Likewise, on the later aspects, one should also combine the cause as its own nature. On the truth of the path, with the difference of views, the opposing side, the nature of afflictions and obscurations of knowledge, is different. Therefore, the meaning of the association that is spoken of is afflictions.

Regarding what is called "the antidote to the obscuration of afflictions," and so on. The meaning is this: Hearers and solitary realizers are the same in that the obscuration of afflictions is what should be abandoned, therefore, abiding in the truth of suffering, etc., the characteristics of impermanence, etc., the sixteen aspects of egolessness, etc., are the same. The solitary realizer, because it is uncommon, becomes the antidote to the obscuration of knowledge, relying on meditation and the path of seeing that are with and without outflows. Because of the logically established absence of arising, taking hold of the manifestation of no arising, the characteristics of no self-nature, etc., the five aspects of dreams, etc. Therefore, desire, hatred, and delusion are without self-nature, and the dependent nature, not focusing on afflicted sentient beings, like the sky, naturally clear and not stained, surpassing all conceit by not focusing, destroying all objects and being immovable, relying on the abiding of the dharma realm as long as samsara exists, becoming the antidote to all afflictions, etc., in order, the six aspects of being without all afflictions, etc. Thus, omniscience gathers eleven aspects. The rest is easy to understand. However, there is this to say: since the aspects of all-aspect knowledge gather the aspects of the two of omniscience alone, what is the point of showing those two separately? However, if they are shown separately and then gathered later, then wouldn't it follow that all-aspect knowledge is also shown only? The answer is that although all aspects of the spoken object and path knowledge are understood, it is because not all aspects are understood, and if all aspects are understood, then even when there is not, it is also present to understand it with absence. Therefore, all-aspect knowledge also gathers those two. The aspects are not mutually gathered in that way, because here it is desired to focus on those aspects themselves. It is also not the case that only all-aspect knowledge is shown separately, the aspects that abide in the aspects of the object and path themselves are aspects.
