Commentary on the Second Chapter. Commentary on the Second Chapter. Realizing the Omniscient One means that the path is understood, etc. The light of self-nature arises from wisdom. The light of maturation arises from karma. The meaning of the verses such as "Knowing the path itself" is explained by mentioning "therein," etc. "Therein" refers to the four noble truths. "The aspect of the truth of suffering" means that the four aspects of impermanence, suffering, emptiness, selflessness, and peace should be stated in order, which is the remainder. It is said to be impermanent and suffering because it is inconsistent with the nature of arising and ceasing. Although suffering is the same as impermanence, the defiled and undefiled are different; the defiled is inconsistent with the noble path, but the undefiled is consistent with the noble ones. Because it is empty, it is the selflessness of the characteristic of emptiness. Because it is selflessly itself, its characteristic is peace. The nature of these aspects is not perceived, and should be connected in this way. This means that impermanence, suffering, selflessness, and peace are the four aspects. The reason for "the aspect of the truth of origin" is that the cause is the root cause of suffering. Arising is temporary suffering. Extreme arising is immediate and extreme suffering. Condition is the transmission of suffering from one to another. Their nature is disease, such as indigestion, etc., and boils and pain are just names. Sin is destruction. The nature of these aspects, such as imperceptibility, is as before. This means that there are four aspects of the nature of continuity, etc., namely disease, boils, pain, and sin. The other aspects of the truths mentioned earlier are said to be renunciation, etc. Renunciation is weariness. Detachment

To abandon is to turn one's back on all existence. To cease is when the mind and mental factors do not arise, or when one enters a state of subtle mind. To enter for that purpose is to be in accordance with practice. "Because it arises" means it is said in the teachings of the Hearers. "Suffering" and so on, should be connected accordingly. "The characteristics of aversion" means by the nature of aversion itself. "The characteristics of otherness and destructible dharma" means that by becoming capable of refutation, it is otherness. Becoming capable of refutation means that it is the nature of destructible dharma, thus it is the nature of destructible dharma. These are the characteristics of aversion. "The characteristics of detachment from desire" means the characteristics of wavering and utter destruction. It is called wavering because it does not abide in its own nature. Because it is by nature destructive without relying on causes, it is utter destruction. These are the characteristics of detachment from desire. "Cessation" and so on, means that other characteristics are spoken of. Because it becomes a place of destruction in this and future existences, it is the nature of destruction. Because it becomes a place of harm for rakshasas and others, it is the nature of contagious disease. The great elements are disordered. Because it becomes a place of sudden arising, it is the nature of harm. For each of these, there are three characteristics of cessation. The nature of these being unobtainable is as before. The characteristics of aversion and so on, because they are included in the nature of the two truths, should each be viewed as two. Therefore, aversion has the nature of otherness and destructible dharma, detachment from desire has the eight characteristics of wavering and utter destruction, and cessation has the six characteristics of destruction, contagious disease, and harm, for a total of fourteen. "Cessation" and so on, means that by being free from afflictions, it is the nature of selflessness. Because suffering is utterly pacified, it is the nature of peace. The characteristic of vastness and being devoid of self means that by being free from pleasure and purity, it is the nature of separateness, for three characteristics. Whatever is liberation, that is nirvana, and its characteristic is the cause of permanence and benefit.

If it is thought in this way, emptiness and so on are one aspect. The nature of these is as before. The truth of the path, etc., in the sense of complete accomplishment, is the path itself. Being without afflictions and becoming a collection of antidotes to afflictions is wisdom itself. By realizing the mind without being mistaken, it is practice itself. By going to the permanent place without manifest clinging, it is definitely liberation itself. The nature of these aspects, such as non-apprehension, is as before. In this order, some aspects in the Mahayana are names themselves, and some are shown as their own nature, so it will not be a fault of being the path of the Hearers. Like this, etc., is to show the meaning of the verse called "Definite Discrimination". The aggregates of form, etc., their own nature is the senses, the five objects and the non-discriminating and experiencing, etc., because these are emptiness, so the emptiness of these, that is, the various emptinesses of form, etc., are not different from each other, they are one. Form, etc., has been said. Similarly, for form, etc., like this, etc., is easy to understand. Because of what, etc., what is needed for the supreme meaning of the Dharma is this: Our omniscient one has abandoned all afflictions, including karmic imprints, so he perceives and knows things and non-things as illusory nature. Apart from that, the meaning of the master, such as self, etc., is not reasonable, so who else is a reliable measure other than the Tathagata? The path of the Hearers, etc., is said to be the profound wisdom of the Self-Buddha. Whatever is expressed in sound is that when the Dharma is taught through the gate of Dharma, the Noble One, etc., shows the Perfection of Wisdom, etc., the listener always understands the wisdom of the speaker through etc., that is, comprehends the wisdom ability of the speaker of Dharma, the Noble One, etc., and is the self of the wisdom of the Perfection of Wisdom, etc.
