Commentary on Chapter Eight Commentary on Chapter Eight In the second moment of meditating on the complete and perfect enlightenment in a single moment, it is the moment of realizing the Dharmakaya. It has four divisions, such as the Svabhavikakaya. First, the Svabhavikakaya. "The Svabhavikakaya of the Buddha is: whatever Dharma is without outflows, having obtained all pure aspects, those are characterized by their own nature." Thus it is said. The Svabhavikakaya of the Buddha, the Bhagavan Tathagata Arhat Samyaksambuddha, is the nature of wisdom such as the mindfulness. By the nature of the Dharmadhatu beyond the world, without outflows, all defilements are adventitious, in all aspects completely pure, and become the characteristic of emptiness of nature. The very nature of those, the nature of no birth, is this. By the meaning of non-artificiality, it is obtained by the path beyond the world, not by action, it is obtained by realizing all dharmas with illusory consciousness. The remaining three Kayas, in the ultimate sense, are the nature of Dharmata; in the true sense, they appear as desired, and are established as the objects of practice for Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Shravakas, etc. To show this, it is said in the scriptures: "Because of separation, from separation, it is considered non-different." Because it says so, although it is non-different from it, it is also established as different. Having thus explained the first Kaya, the second Dharmakaya is the nature of non-elaborate wisdom, the essence of stainless mindfulness, etc. The factors of enlightenment, immeasurables, liberations and gradual attainments, the nature of the nine successive absorptions, the nature of the ten all-pervading spheres, the spheres of overcoming, with eight divisions, freedom from afflictions and the wisdom of aspirations, and individual perfect knowledge, the fourfold purity of all aspects, the ten powers and the ten strengths, the four fearlessnesses, the three protections, the three mindfulnesses, the nature of non-forgetfulness, the complete destruction of habitual tendencies, and great compassion arising for beings.
