For example, just as if one were to peel away the bark of a tree layer by layer, the heartwood would be utterly imperceptible, so it should be understood. In this way, one knows the formations. How does one know the arising and ceasing of formations? Formations do not come from anywhere, nor do they go anywhere, so they do not come from anywhere, nor do they go anywhere. Know that what has not come from anywhere has not gone anywhere. In this way, one knows the arising and ceasing of formations. How does one know the suchness of formations? The suchness of formations is unborn, unceasing, without coming, without going, not utterly afflicted, not utterly purified, not decreasing, not increasing, not inverted, but abiding in suchness. Therefore, it is called suchness. In this way, one knows the suchness of formations. How does one know consciousness? For example, one should know it like an illusory army formation with four divisions created by a magician. In this way, one knows consciousness. How does one know the arising and ceasing of consciousness? Consciousness does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere, so it does not come from anywhere, nor does it go anywhere. Know that what has not come from anywhere has not gone anywhere. This is how one knows the arising and ceasing of consciousness. How does one know the suchness of consciousness? The suchness of consciousness is unborn, unceasing, without coming, without going, not utterly afflicted, not utterly purified, not decreasing, not increasing, not inverted, but abiding in suchness. Therefore, it is called suchness. In this way, one knows the suchness of consciousness. How does one know the sense bases? The eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind are empty of the eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind. Internal phenomena are empty of internal phenomena. External phenomena are also known to be empty of external phenomena. In this way, one knows the sense bases. If

Then, how does one know the skandhas? Know that the eye-skandha is also empty of its own nature of the eye-skandha. The form-skandha is also empty of its own nature of the form-skandha. The eye-consciousness-skandha is also empty of its own nature of the eye-consciousness-skandha. The ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind-skandhas are also empty of their own nature of the mind-skandha. The dharma-skandha is also empty of its own nature of the dharma-skandha. The consciousness-skandha is also empty of its own nature of the consciousness-skandha. Thus, one knows the skandhas. The earth-skandha is empty of its own nature of the earth-skandha. Similarly, the water-skandha, fire-skandha, wind-skandha, space-skandha, and consciousness-skandha, know that they are all empty of their own essence. How does one know dependent origination? Know that dependent origination is unborn. Similarly, know that dependent origination is unceasing, unbroken, impermanent, not of one meaning, not of different meanings, without coming, without going, free from elaboration and peaceful. Thus, one knows dependent origination. How does one know the noble truths? Know the noble truth of suffering. Know the noble truths of origin, cessation, and the path to cessation. How does one know the noble truth of suffering? Know suffering. Know truth. Know the noble truth. Know the noble truth that is liberated from duality. Know that non-duality is called the noble truth. Similarly, know the noble truths of origin, cessation, and the path to cessation. Thus, one knows the noble truths. How does one know the suchness of suffering? Know that the suchness of suffering is non-erroneous. Similarly, know well the suchness of origin, cessation, and the path. Thus, one knows the suchness of the noble truths.

No. Then, the venerable Subhuti said to the Blessed One: "Blessed One, if a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, knows those mutually distinct dharmas in that way, will he not disturb the Dharmadhatu?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, if there were any dharma that is not the Dharmadhatu, then it would be disturbed. Subhuti, no other dharma apart from the Dharmadhatu is perceived. If it were perceived, then the Dharmadhatu would also be disturbed. Why is that? Subhuti, the Tathagata, or the Bodhisattva, or the Pratyekabuddha, or the Hearer of the Tathagata, does not perceive any dharma that does not belong to the Dhatu. Since it is not perceived in that way, there is no designation of another dharma that is not the Dharmadhatu. Subhuti, in that case, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, should train in the Dharmadhatu of dharmas." Subhuti asked: "Blessed One, what will a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva train in when training in the Dharmadhatu of dharmas?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who practices the Dharmadhatu will train in all dharmas. Why is that? Subhuti, like this, all dharmas are the Dharmadhatu." He asked: "Blessed One, for what reason are all dharmas the Dharmadhatu?" The Blessed One said: "Subhuti, it is like this: whether the Tathagatas appear or do not appear, the Dharmadhatu of dharmas abides in Suchness in an undifferentiated manner. Subhuti, the Dharmadhatu is like this: all dharmas, whether virtuous or non-virtuous, mundane or supramundane, with outflows or without outflows, with faults or without faults, conditioned or unconditioned. Subhuti, in that case, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva, when practicing the Perfection of Wisdom, trains in the Dharmadhatu, dharma
