Moreover, one should not meditate on the samadhi with both conceptualization and discernment, the samadhi with only discernment without conceptualization, and the samadhi without conceptualization and discernment, thinking that they are real. One should not meditate on the noble truth of suffering, the noble truth of origin, the noble truth of cessation, and the noble truth of the path, thinking that they are real, as well as knowing suffering, knowing origin, knowing cessation, knowing the path, and knowing exhaustion, knowing non-arising, as well as knowing the Dharma, knowing following, as well as conventional knowing, familiar knowing, and knowing as it sounds. One should not meditate on all the perfections and all emptiness, thinking that they are real. One should not meditate on the six superknowledges, all samadhis, all dharani gates, the ten powers of the Tathagata, the four fearlessnesses, the four analytical knowledges, great love, great compassion, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha, thinking that they are real. One should not meditate on the fruit of stream-enterer, the fruit of once-returner, the fruit of non-returner, the state of Arhat, as well as solitary enlightenment, up to the omniscient wisdom, and abandoning all habitual afflictions that connect the continuum, thinking that they are real. Why is that? Subhuti, a person with the concept of reality does not meditate on the Perfection of Wisdom. A person with the concept of reality does not meditate on the Perfection of Concentration, the Perfection of Diligence, the Perfection of Patience, the Perfection of Morality, and the Perfection of Generosity. A person with the concept of reality does not even abandon all habitual afflictions that connect the continuum. Why is that? Thus, he clings to the two extremes, thinking, "This is me" with regard to reality. Giving, morality, patience, diligence, concentration, wisdom, and even abandoning all habitual afflictions that connect the continuum, he clings to the two extremes, thinking, "This is me." I am attached to two extremes, and there is no liberation from that. Why is that? Mañjuśrī, for those who have a concept of things, there is neither generosity, nor discipline, nor patience, nor diligence, nor meditation, nor wisdom. If there is no complete understanding until all the afflictions that combine habitual tendencies are abandoned, then it comes from the view that it will be liberated. Question: Blessed One, what is called "things exist"? What is called "things do not exist"? The Blessed One replied: Mañjuśrī, two are things that exist. Non-two are things that do not exist. Question: Blessed One, what is called "two"? The Blessed One replied: Mañjuśrī, the concept of form aggregate is two. The concept of feeling, perception, formation, and consciousness is two. The concept of the twelve sources, the eighteen elements, and the twelve links of dependent origination is two. The concept of taking and abandoning is two. The concept of the first dhyana, the second dhyana, the third dhyana, the fourth dhyana, loving-kindness, compassion, joy, equanimity, the absorption of infinite space, the absorption of infinite consciousness, the absorption of nothingness, and the absorption of neither perception nor non-perception is two. The concept of remembering the Buddha, remembering the Dharma, remembering the Sangha, remembering the discipline, remembering generosity, remembering the gods, remembering birth, remembering breathing in and out, remembering death, and remembering the form of the body is two.
