Having fully perfected Bodhi, may I manifest and awaken to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete Bodhi. Having awakened to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete Bodhi and become a Buddha, may I turn the wheel of Dharma, and I should not abide in this. Having performed the deeds of a Buddha, may I completely liberate the sentient beings of immeasurable and countless realms of the world from suffering, and I should not abide in this either. Abiding in the four legs of miraculous power, and through the power of entering into samadhi, being able to abide for as many kalpas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges River, I should not abide with the intention of attaining such a samadhi. I should not abide with the intention of "May the measure of my life become immeasurable." I should not abide with the intention of "May each of the thirty-two major marks of a great being be completely accomplished by a hundred merits." The realms of the world in the eastern direction, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, and likewise the realms of the world in the southern, western, and northern directions, as many as the sands of the Ganges River, may all of these become one Buddha-field of mine, and I should not abide in this. May my three-thousand great-thousand world system become of the nature of vajra, and I should not abide in this. May the Bodhi tree of mine emit fragrance, and may all sentient beings who perceive that fragrance not generate a mind of attachment, not generate a mind of hatred, not generate a mind of ignorance, and not even once generate a mind of a Hearer or a Solitary Realizer, and may all those sentient beings definitely awaken to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete Bodhi, and may all sentient beings who perceive that fragrance be free from any illness, and I should not abide in this either. May the sound of form not arise in that Buddha-field of mine, may the sound of feeling not arise, may the sound of perception not arise, may the sound of formations not arise, may the sound of consciousness not arise, and I should not abide in this. May the sound of the perfection of generosity not

May it be extinguished. Likewise, may the sound of the perfection of discipline not arise. May the sound of the perfection of patience not arise. May the sound of the perfection of diligence not arise. May the sound of the perfection of meditation not arise. May the sound of the perfection of wisdom not arise. One should not abide in this. May the sound of the four mindfulnesses not arise. And the right abandonments, the feet of magical power, the faculties, the powers, the branches of enlightenment, the path, the immeasurables, the meditations, the formless absorptions, the superknowledges, the noble truths, the ten powers, the fearlessnesses, the separate correct knowledges, and the eighteen unshared qualities of the Buddha—may the sound of all these not arise. From then on, likewise, may the sound of the stream-enterer, the once-returner, the non-returner, the arhat, the solitary buddha, the bodhisattva, and the solitary buddha also not arise. One should not abide in this, but should speak extensively. What is the reason for this? It is because the Tathagata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, having manifestly awakened to the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment, does not perceive any phenomena. Kauśika, therefore, a bodhisattva mahasattva should not abide in the perfection of wisdom by means of an object of focus. Then, the venerable Śāriputra thought to himself, "How should a bodhisattva mahasattva abide in the perfection of wisdom?" Then again, the venerable Subhūti, knowing with his mind the mental disposition of the venerable Śāriputra, said to the venerable Śāriputra, "Venerable Śāriputra, what do you think? Where does the Tathagata abide?" He said, "Venerable Subhūti, the Tathagata does not abide anywhere. He does not abide in form. He does not abide in feeling. He does not abide in perception. He does not abide in formations. He does not abide in consciousness. He does not abide in the conditioned realm. He does not abide in the un

It does not abide in the realm of what has been done. It does not abide in the aggregates, elements, sense-sources, or the limbs of dependent origination. It does not abide in the perfections. It does not abide in the factors of enlightenment. It does not abide in the immeasurables. It does not abide in the meditations. It does not abide in the formless attainments. It does not abide in the superknowledges. It does not abide in the truths. It does not abide in all emptiness. It does not abide in all samādhis. It does not abide in all samādhis. It does not abide in all dhāraṇī gates. It does not abide in the powers, fearlessnesses, separate correct knowledges, or the unshared qualities of the Buddha. It does not abide in omniscience, because the mind of the Tathāgata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, does not abide anywhere. Twenty-eighth fascicle. Then again, the venerable Subhūti said this to the venerable Śāriputra: Venerable Śāriputra, a bodhisattva mahāsattva should abide in the perfection of wisdom in this way: just as the Tathāgata, the Arhat, the Perfectly Awakened One, does not abide in form, nor does he not abide. He does not abide in feeling. He does not abide in perception. He does not abide in formations. He does not abide in consciousness, nor does he not abide. Venerable Śāriputra, thus a bodhisattva mahāsattva should abide in the perfection of wisdom, abiding in the manner of non-abiding, which belongs to the supreme of dharmas. These are the teachings of the path of the śrāvakas. The path of the śrāvakas.
