An Explanation of the Distinctions of the Conflicting Aspects of the Path of Cultivation. An Explanation of the Distinctions of the Conflicting Aspects of the Path of Cultivation. Having shown the Path of Seeing, now I shall speak of the four distinctions of the conflicting aspects of the Path of Cultivation. Regarding this, first having cultivated the Path of Cultivation, then I shall speak about it here. The Path of Cultivation Is encompassed by the nine successively abiding samādhis. Moreover, it is also encompassed by the surpassing samādhi, therefore, in order to briefly show the Path of Cultivation through the gateway of showing it, thus making the intention: The nine samādhis with cessation, coming and going in two ways, the consciousness belonging to the desire realm, holding the boundary of non-samāhita, the samādhi that is surpassing, one and two three four and five, six and seven and eight surpassing, going differently until cessation. Thus it is shown. The so-called "in two ways" refers to conforming and non-conforming. Then, the one with the lion's complete exertion samādhi, having entered into samādhi, after individually examining dependent arising, from the nine successively abiding samādhis, the samāhita mind, and conforming and non-conforming, one and two and three and four and five and six and seven and eight and nine, when manifesting through entering into samādhi in a surpassing way, one obtains many freedoms as desired, this sutra is: Subhūti, here the bodhisattva mahāsattva dwells having attained the first dhyāna with joy and bliss born of seclusion, secluded from desires, secluded from sinful unwholesome dharmas, with thought and examination. Similarly, he dwells having attained the cessation samādhi of perception and feeling. Having arisen from that cessation samādhi, he enters into the samādhi of the realm of neither perception nor non-perception. Having arisen from that, he enters into the realm of nothingness. Then he enters into consciousness Infinite realm. Then he enters into the space infinite realm.

Then, it is the fourth dhyana. Then, the third dhyana. Then, the second. Then, having entered into the samadhi of the first dhyana, having differentiated this lion-like springing samadhi, one enters into the samadhi of transcendence. Subhuti, furthermore, what is the samadhi of transcendence of a Bodhisattva Mahasattva? Therein, the Bodhisattva, from entering the first dhyana, similarly enters into cessation. Having arisen from that, he dwells near and cultivates the first dhyana. Having arisen from that, he enters into cessation. Then, it is the second dhyana. Then, it is cessation. Then, it is the third. Then, it is cessation. Then, it is the fourth dhyana. Then, it is cessation. Then, it is the sphere of infinite space. Then, it is cessation. Then, it is the sphere of infinite consciousness. Then, it is cessation. Then, it is the sphere of nothingness. Then, it is cessation. Then, it is the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Having arisen from that, one enters into the samadhi of cessation. Having arisen from that, one enters into the samadhi of neither perception nor non-perception. Having arisen from that, one manifests the mind that is not in equipoise, which operates in the desire realm. From the mind that is not in equipoise, one enters into the samadhi of cessation. Having arisen from that, one abides in the mind that is not in equipoise. Then, one enters into the sphere of neither perception nor non-perception. Having arisen from that, one abides in the mind that is not in equipoise. Then, it is the sphere of a little nothingness. Then, one abides in the mind that is not in equipoise. Similarly, having arisen from the first dhyana, one abides in the mind that is not in equipoise, up to this point. What are the eight grounds that are connected in two ways, one transcends, having gone and come, and goes to the third in a different kind, and is not the samadhi of transcendence? How is that explained? Are the characteristics of a crow and an owl the same? That occasion is not different, but because such skillful means have been obtained, countless billions of hundreds of thousands of kalpas are entered.

Therefore, just by venerating the immeasurable Buddha, it is vast, so it should be known that the path of meditation is vast. This is an explanation of the path of meditation. Having shown the path of meditation, now the four aspects that are inconsistent with it will be discussed. Namely, brief and extensive, as well as the absence of a Buddha's protector, the absence of the three times' merits, the good path has three aspects, and the apprehended conceptualization is one, having the object of conduct of the aspect of combination. Thus it is declared. Among them, what is the conceptualization of not understanding the brevity of all phenomena? World-Honored One, thus the Tathagata has taught these dharmas in brief and in detail, to this, the great Bodhisattva should fully understand these six perfections in brief and in detail, starting from here, with one Abhisamaya briefly showing the omniscience of the three, and then extensively showing each Abhisamaya. Now, for the Abhisamaya of the peak, in brief and in detail, the path of meditation,
