Peace, eighteen, one, one, one, thus it is. The aspects of the support of the path of all-knowingness are less than forty by one. If these are combined, they become one hundred and seventy-two aspects. To what do these dharmas called "aspects" refer? At the time of the very beginning, grasping the distinctions of the object, is called "aspect." This has been taught. Is this not teaching its characteristics? Having established it as an object, it is again an object, because it is taught that all worldly virtuous dharmas, and virtue and so on, are. Therefore, here, without a thing, it will not become an antidote to liberation. Among these, the aspect of all-knowingness is without outflows and with outflows, due to the distinction between Hearers and Bodhisattvas. The aspect of path-knowingness is only with outflows of name, because Bodhisattvas have not completely abandoned afflictions. The aspect of all-aspect-knowingness is only without outflows, because Buddhahood is attained by understanding all the aspects of dharmas. What is taught as not exceeding the sixteen stainless aspects, refers only to the antidote to the obscuration of afflictions, and there is no contradiction between this and the previous one. Explanation of the aspect of aspects is completed. Explanation of the aspect of aspects.
