Explanation of the Aspects of Generating Bodhicitta Explanation of the Aspects of Generating Bodhicitta Having finished that explanation, now I shall speak only of collecting the order of those things that have been shown, such as what is the meaning of manifest realization, what is the special aspect, and what are the things. In that regard, for now: "Generating bodhicitta is for the sake of others, desiring to seek all white dharmas." How does the name of another become another's? If the mind is characterized by knowing in each separate object, and if seeking meaning is said to be craving, then? It is true, but here the cause and effect are shown, for if there is seeking meaning, that is, seeking meaning is characterized by desire for virtuous dharmas, then it is generating bodhicitta for the sake of attaining Buddhahood itself. In that way, the root of desire will accord with following after all virtuous dharmas, etc. Or, seeking meaning is aspiration, and because it acts together with that, seeking the meaning of generating bodhicitta itself is called generating bodhicitta. Having done that, it is reasonable that generating bodhicitta, etc., which acts together with aspiration, becomes generating bodhicitta, and here it is shown what is the main thing, that is, whatever has seeking meaning is established as the main thing of generating bodhicitta. What are the white dharmas and the benefit of others? Those are as the sutra says, spoken of through the doors of abbreviation and expansion. "That and" means the white dharmas. "That" means the benefit of others. Here, as the sutra says, it is shown abbreviated by those. Shariputra, here a bodhisattva mahasattva, wishing to manifestly and completely attain Buddhahood in all dharmas in all aspects, should strive in the perfection of wisdom. That is what was said. Manifestly attaining Buddhahood in all dharmas in all aspects, therefore all white dharmas are included within. Here, what is extensively shown in those sutras is: Shariputra, here a bodhisattva mahasattva, abiding in the perfection of wisdom in a non-abiding manner, the non-abiding application, the giver and, the object of giving and, the receiver

Starting from "one should perfect the perfection of generosity without focusing on the object," the perfections and the aspects of enlightenment, etc., are extensively explained, summarizing the seven realizations and the activities of the Dharmakaya, etc., thus completely speaking until the end. Furthermore, at the time of generating the mind of enlightenment, one wishes for this, and by these wishes, one should diligently practice the Prajnaparamita. The commentary on this sutra extensively explains its meaning, so it is not separately explained here again. Now, the words of what has been summarized will be explained, such as, "One should meditate on the nine impure perceptions." These are: the perception of swelling, the perception of worms, the perception of putrefaction, the perception of lividity, the perception of disintegration, the perception of being eaten, the perception of scattering, the perception of bones, and the perception of burning. Among these, like a bladder inflated by the wind, after the end of life, the body gradually swells, completely swelling, hence it is swelling. This is for those who are attached to form, showing the decay of the body's form, so one should meditate on this. Because it is gnawed by various worms inside and outside and in between, it is worm-infested. This is because it appears that the inside is empty, and it is the antidote for those who are attached to the swelling of the body. Because it drips from different places, it is putrefying. This is because it appears foul-smelling from the connection with the inside of the body, and it is the antidote for those who are attached to smells, etc., arising from garlands and smells, etc. Because they are scattered and livid with each other, and flow out disgustingly, they are livid. This is because it is stained with lividity and appears as an unpleasant object, and it is the antidote for those who are attached to the beauty of decorating the flesh. Because it clearly appears blue, it is decaying. In similar places, different colors appear, such as copper color, gray in the place where pus flows, and blue in the place of blue, like being covered with a blue cloth. This is a euphemism for a corpse. This shows the decay of attachment to the skin, and it is the antidote for those who are attached to the color of objects.
