Third, the chapter on the distinctions of conduct when all is known. Third, the chapter on the distinctions of conduct when all is known. Explaining based on not abiding in samsara and nirvana. Now, the knowledge of knowing all will be explained. Here, for now, based on not abiding in samsara and nirvana, it is said: "Not on this shore, the other shore, or the edge, nor abiding in between them." Thus it was said. O Bhagavan, the Prajnaparamita of the Bodhisattva is not the edge of this shore, nor is it seen as other than both, because it is utterly pure, etc., whatever was said by blocking the notions and objects of samsara and nirvana. Why is it that it is not seen? "Knowing the equality of all times, therefore it is called Prajnaparamita." This is because the dharmas of the three times are of the nature of equality. This is what was said with such reasoning. Explaining being distant from the fruit-mother. "Distant due to not having means." This refers to: O Bhagavan, if a son or daughter of a lineage of the Bodhisattva vehicle, unskilled in means, understands this Prajnaparamita in a clinging manner, then this Prajnaparamita will be abandoned, it will become distant, this is what was said. These are two words considering this life and the next. What is not a means? "That is through the door of clinging to signs." Thus it was said. Subhuti, one also clings to names. Subhuti, one also clings to signs. Why is that? Subhuti, all dharmas are signless and nameless, this is what was said. Explaining being close to the fruit-mother. "That, through skillful means, is said to be truly virtuous." This refers to: O Bhagavan, between the well-spoken and the well-concluded of this Prajnaparamita is wondrous, with the limited realization of the Hearers and the like, and in the opposite way, having gone to the ultimate, that is what was said about the well-spoken and the well-concluded. Explaining opposing factors and antidotes. The opposing factors are: the emptiness of the aggregates such as form, and the dharmas belonging to the three times.

Regarding the aspects of enlightenment such as generosity, the aspects of inconsistent perception of conduct. As it is said, due to unskilled means, starting from what is called form emptiness, up to the emptiness of form and so on, and the dharmas such as the past, from the perfections to all-knowingness, the perception of conduct is attachment. The antidote is: there is no intervening clinging to generosity and so on. As it is said, Shariputra, a Bodhisattva with skillful means thinks like this, he will not recognize that form is form, and he will not even think that I should attain all-knowingness, just like everything is emptiness, as it is said with such a reason. Furthermore, what is said to be the inconsistent aspect is: Kaushika, for a son or daughter of a lineage of the Bodhisattva vehicle, knowing in the mind, etc., if attachment arises to those attachments, then one cannot practice the Prajnaparamita without attachment. What is the reason for that? Because one cannot completely dedicate the nature from form to all-knowingness. The antidote is: others combine with it, that is, it prevents the edge of attachment. As it is said, for that very self, by showing the prevention of pride and so on, it is said that others abandon all attachments. For those who are completely ignorant, negligent, completely discouraged, and truly entered, one should apply true display, true answer, true praise, and true joy in order. Furthermore, kings and so on are subtle attachments. It means, Subhuti, if a Bodhisattva focuses on the Tathagata as a sign, then the Tathagata and his roots of virtue and complete dedication, etc., are the subtle attachments that are spoken of. What is the reason why these are attachments? The path of Dharma is naturally peaceful, so it is profound. As it is said, Bhagavan, Prajnaparamita.

That which is called the Profound Chapter, and, Subhuti, all dharmas are empty by means of ultimate truth. Thus and so forth it is said. And how does one abandon all attachments? Because the nature of dharmas is of one taste, attachment is abandoned by knowing. Thus it is said. Subhuti, thus, the nature of dharmas is not two, the nature of dharmas is only one. What is the nature of dharmas, that is non-nature. Thus and so forth, as knowable and knowing, it is completely shown, having the meaning of completely abandoning all extremes of attachment. Why is it that the nature of cessation, because of the prevention of seeing and so forth, it is said to be extremely difficult to realize. Thus it is said. By preventing seeing, hearing, awareness, and consciousness, it is extremely difficult to directly realize those forms and so forth, previously showing as the equality of knowable and knowing. Therefore it is said. Moreover, what is the cause of the Prajnaparamita being so difficult to realize? Why, because of not knowing form and so forth, that is considered inconceivable. Thus it is said. Because of not knowing form up to the eighteen unmixed Buddha dharmas, therefore this inconceivability, as the equality of knowing, is shown. Having done so, thus, according to the principle of all-knowingness, unfavorable qualities and antidotal qualities, completely distinguishing without remainder, as it is said, this should be known. Thus it is said. Explanation of Practice Now, practice should be explained. That also changes into ten aspects, therefore, form and so forth, that impermanent and so forth, that incomplete and extremely complete, in that non-attachment nature, practice by preventing conduct, unchanging agent non-existence, preventing practice these three, obtaining results according to their divisions, that and the one desiring results, and that which does not depend on others, knowing the seven appearances. Thus it is said. Among them, the practice of form and so forth is: if one practices form and so forth, then one practices the Prajnaparamita. Thus, up to practicing all aspects of knowledge, preventing conduct, and allowing that conduct.
