Instructions Explained Instructions Explained Now, instructions will be spoken. From where does this come? It comes from what the Bhagavan said about how a great Bodhisattva should practice the Perfection of Wisdom. What is the meaning? It means how a Bodhisattva who has generated such a mind should practice in order to perfect the dharmas that are spoken about generating the mind. At the end of the chapter, it will also be explained that this is an instruction on the Perfection of Wisdom for a great Bodhisattva, and this is a subsequent teaching. Therefore, instructions and subsequent teachings are similar in that they closely show the actions of attaining meaning by seeking meaning. Instructions are what prevent already attained qualities from deteriorating due to the meaning of complete protection, while subsequent teachings are for attaining qualities that have not yet been attained. Instructions also have ten aspects, therefore: Practice and truths, Buddhas and the Three Jewels, Non-attachment, complete non-weariness, The path is completely held, Five eyes and direct knowledge, Six qualities and the path of seeing, And practice, instructions are, Know the nature of ten. Thus it is said. Among them, the instruction on practice begins with Shariputra, i.e., "Here, a great Bodhisattva practices the Perfection of Wisdom and does not truly see a Bodhisattva," etc. Practice from the aspect of non-objectification. This is uncommon with the Shravakas, etc. As a metaphor, it is like the entire Jambudvipa being filled with monks like Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, like a reed forest, etc. Starting from here, it shows that the wisdom of the monks who fill each of the ten directions with worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges, the wisdom practice of a great Bodhisattva for one day is even more superior. Shariputra, if the entire Jambudvipa were filled with monks like Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, like a reed forest, or a light forest, or a sugarcane forest, or a

Just as a sugarcane field, a rice field, or a sesame field are completely filled, etc., these are the things that are said. All noble beings are distinguished by the unconditioned, so isn't wisdom without difference? Because of this thought, the question is asked whether there is no difference, like the Blessed One, the stream-enterer, etc. Shariputra, what do you think? The wisdom of a Bodhisattva, practiced in one day, for what fruit's benefit does it abide? Starting from here, until all sentient beings are completely liberated from suffering, the six perfections are completely fulfilled, in order to obtain the characteristics of the Dharmakaya, and to correctly obtain practice and realization, thereby obtaining the ten virtuous paths of action, and like the great Sala tree king, etc., and all the realms of the gods, the stream-enterer, etc., and the wisdom of the perfectly enlightened Buddha, if a Bodhisattva does not exist, it will not arise, therefore, by showing the difference of being a field of offering, the answer is given with a meaning that possesses distinction. Among them, the four that are in accordance with the definitive aspect, and the paths of seeing and cultivation, in order, like a reed, cannot tolerate small harm from karma and afflictions, like fire and weapons treat light, even if encountering fierce harm from karma and afflictions, the root of virtue will not be cut off, like sugarcane, even if obtaining another state, one will not fall into the lower realms, therefore, in the births of happy migrations, through uninterrupted practice, one will not transcend the sweetness of practicing the Dharma, like bamboo, in order to quickly manifest realization, one realizes the path of seeing, like rice, it is the supreme fruit of the realization of the noble beings, like sesame, how to make manifestation tend towards the path of seeing, even if things like flowers, etc., are not different, but at other times, when cultivating, due to the difference of abandonment, taking the path of seeing as the main thing, so it should be known that these six metaphors are like that. If asked what is the meaning of saying "field"? Even if the differences of beings, the differences of faculties, etc., are different, it should be known that the kinds of warmth, etc., are without difference.
