Just as one realizes that water cannot exist where the fire is great, what is the obstruction to that? It is said. Because one obstructs one of the two aspects, it is said to be "to that." Obstruction is another term for separation, which is synonymous with not doing sinful deeds. What is meant by "what is," is to abandon in this way. The great ascetic said this. The great ascetic is the Tathagata himself, hence he is the "great ascetic." What did he say? Do no evil, practice perfect virtue, subdue your own mind. This is what he said, which means to completely abandon the evil paths of body, speech, and mind, and to practice their antidote, perfect virtue, and to gradually subdue the impure mind aroused by desire and so on with the antidote, and to abide in the distinction of conduct such as the root of virtue without desire, this is the teaching of the Buddha. Furthermore, the Dharma giving of verses personally proclaimed in the sutras and other scriptures also moistens the continuum. Discern the meaning of the secret mantras with wisdom, For the sake of the compassionate and impoverished beings, These steps have been well arranged. I also admire that wise one, Although I cannot fathom your thoughts, Why not clearly explain for the benefit of us extremely foolish beings? Please forgive any inconsistencies with the teachings. Although I do not have wisdom and intelligence, But to benefit beings, I generate the power of wisdom, To the best of my ability, I clearly explain step by step. May beings, through the accumulated merits, Eliminate the two obscurations, perfect the great accumulation, And turn the unsurpassed wheel of Dharma.
