The Torma Ritual Compiled from Various Tantras. Nagarjuna. The Torma Ritual Compiled from Various Tantras. Nagarjuna. In Sanskrit: Nānātantra udhṛto baliṃ bidhiḥ. In Tibetan: The Torma Ritual Compiled from Various Tantras. Oṃ Vajrasattva, I prostrate to you. Possessing the nature of the five wisdoms, The supreme form pervaded by its own light, Performing the deeds of saving all beings, To Vajrasattva, I prostrate. Bestowing the supreme to the Thus Gone Ones, The goddess, the sovereign of the Dharmadhatu, The mother of all the Victorious Ones, I pay homage to her who saves beings. By whose great kindness of body, Speech will obtain the unsurpassed, To the lotus feet of Manjushri, I prostrate to the two water-born lotuses. By whose touch, The sufferings of samsara are pacified, To the feet of the venerable Guru, Connected with the lotus, I praise the dust. For the benefit of sentient beings, The method of torma practice is like nectar, From the ocean of various tantras, Having accurately compiled, I will explain. In ancient times, the Bhagavan, Spoke the oral instructions from his mouth, Only that much, sentient beings, Attained accomplishment, not from impure texts. Then, when the time of the three qualities came, The root tantras will be propagated, From that, understanding the connection of meaning, By contemplating, beings will attain accomplishment. In the time of the two qualities, the chief Victorious One, Will extensively expound, By understanding that meaning, Scholars will attain accomplishments. In this present time of strife, The twelve branches of the Buddha's teachings, The Bhagavan has spoken much, Yet beings are not pacified. Why is it that sentient beings, Always have short lives and little diligence? By the suffering of afflictions such as attachment, Their minds are always tormented. They strive for their own bellies, Single-mindedly focused, possessing intention, Actions such as pleasing the king, They do from early morning. At noon, they speak of only one thing, After midday, they are satisfied with food and drink, After being satisfied, they are harmed by desire, Beings sleep at night. For a while, to live a hundred years, Is said to be the best of life, But those sentient beings themselves, Half of it is completely exhausted, By children, old age, and diseases, That
