Because the Mother Tantra possesses the merit of using mantras, by practicing properly in a secluded place, it can also transform into accomplishment, and it can also perfectly accomplish the benefit of others. Abandoning the vows and interpreting the meaning of the secret mantra with a flattering mind, understanding it as the literal meaning, if it is misused by non-receptacles in cities and other places, it will spoil the teachings of the Tathagatas. Therefore, wise people who want their own happiness should abandon the nectar from the mouths of Acharya Arya Nagarjuna and Indra Bhuti and other venerable ones, just as they abandon poisonous food. Therefore, practitioners who are capable of becoming vessels of accomplishment should not diminish the imprint of the heart of bodhicitta from the very beginning of receiving the vows. Those who have received the irreversible empowerment should keep two vows: the vows of what to eat and the vows of what to protect. Among them, the vows of what to eat are: camphor, cinnabar, and long pepper, red sandalwood and saffron, etc. Practitioners should always rely on and consume them according to the instructions. The vows of what to protect are: contemplate oneself as the deity, and think of the collection of all beings without exception. Vajra Acharyas, Vajras, should generate respect and courage towards their Vajra brothers. This is the vow of body, and one should diligently guard the precepts. Cut off the faults of speech arising from greed, and with the essence of the wisdom mantra deity and the vajra words, etc., concentrate and recite continuously. This is the vow of speech, and one should always not transgress this. Always with the two samadhis, practice as it is and hold it with mindfulness. The uncommon great secret and oral instructions should not be proclaimed to others. Views, practices, and deities, as well as the guru and consort, are secrets. These are not other great secrets; these are the vows of mind. The secrets of body, speech, and mind should not be abandoned even for the sake of life. The four vows spoken by the Buddhas after contemplation should be abided by. The fourteen that are truly meaningful are proclaimed to be the root of failure. One should not abandon or discard them, and should know that they are root downfalls. Disparaging the Acharya, violating the teachings of the Sugatas, with hatred...

Do not speak of improper places. Abandoning great compassion, abandoning the mind of enlightenment, slandering the three vehicles, proclaiming secrets to those who are not vessels, slandering the self-nature aggregates of the Buddhas, having doubts about the sacred Dharma, having love and non-attachment towards the wicked, dividing the Dharma into two, extremely slandering the initial aspiration. Whatever vows are relied upon, one should not slander the examined consort, for this becomes a root downfall, causing the vows of the mantra practitioner to be exhausted. Three times during the day and night, one should recite this every day. If a yogi has degenerated, it becomes a gross offense. Delighting in relying on a consort who does not possess vows, arguing in the assembly circle, proclaiming secret teachings, teaching other true Dharmas to sentient beings who have faith, boasting as Hearers, staying inside for seven days, without making a definite union, those who proclaim secrets to those who are not vessels, all become transgressors, and the vows of that mantra practitioner are exhausted. Exhausted, they will not accomplish anything, and demons and suffering will greatly increase. Thus it is said. Even having obtained the empowerment of non-retrogression, one should properly keep all the vows from the very moment of obtaining them until great enlightenment. If they have been broken, there is no real meaning to protect, and relying on the image of words with intentional meaning, not keeping vows but falsely making mandalas and so on, is deceiving the noble ones and all sentient beings. That merit, like the milk of a secret mantra lion, is proclaimed to individuals who are not vessels, and doing activities such as making mandalas causes sentient beings to fall into evil destinies such as hell, destroying oneself and others, turning one's back on the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, and will never become a vessel for accomplishment. Therefore, one should protect all vows without regard for body and life. It is permitted to restore broken vows. If it arises from union during a session, eliminate that fault with the meditation of the Sugata family, becoming like refined gold, without impurity. If the limbs of union are grossly damaged, then make offerings and so on properly, confess and vow before the noble ones, and thereafter protect and respect.
