The Lamp for the Three Modes The Lamp for the Three Modes In Sanskrit: Naya Traya Pradipa. In Tibetan: The Lamp for the Three Modes. Homage to the Bhagavan Manjushri Kumara! With the light of wisdom and compassion, You become the manifest eye of sentient beings, With the light of wisdom, you dispel the darkness, I prostrate to the victorious protector! According to scripture and reason, And with whatever intellectual strength I have, This Lamp for the Three Modes, I shall explain in order to accomplish that very thing. If some beings here, Cannot enter due to their lack of merit, May this become, A means of taming my own mind. Without true knowledge, the world, Cannot attain peaceful nirvana, The Buddha said, here the measure, The elders have clearly explained. Here, beginning with the great Bodhisattva who has donned the great armor of the Mahayana path, the Bhagavan, whose heart is moistened by the nectar of the ten powers and great compassion, teaches in the sutras and tantra kings, the immeasurable doors of the grounds, samadhi, dharani, paramitas, superknowledges, and liberations, with the very speech of the nectar of great compassion, which is said to be the cause of the complete perfection of non-dual wisdom. And that is what is taught by the names such as Prajnaparamita, Tathagata, Suchness, Ultimate Reality, and Dharmadhatu, so it is to be taken as supreme by those who desire liberation. Someone asks, are the truths of suffering and so on also like that? The answer is, yes, they are also like that. And that wisdom is also transcendental wisdom. By familiarizing oneself with that, the knowledge of exhaustion and non-arising arises, the Arhat has done what needs to be done, and so on. So how is it explained that this non-dual wisdom alone is the only Suchness to be taken? It cannot be said that this is not the Buddha's teaching, because it is the main part of the Sugata's teaching, and it is also promised as such in the Mahayana.

Otherwise. Or, even if these are the Buddha's teachings, they are not the ultimate truth because they do not possess प्रमाण (pramāṇa, validity). If so, then the all-knowing one is ignorant, and because the Buddha is abandoned, it becomes a great fault. If that is the case, then who would believe in the Mahayana? This is not without प्रमाण (pramāṇa, validity), because the Compendium on Valid Cognition has already been mentioned here, so it is not explained here. Furthermore, if the truth of suffering and so on is also taught by the Bhagavan in the Mahayana, from where is it determined that it is not the ultimate truth? Those who have faith in the Buddha's teachings themselves should not follow the reasoning of the ultimate truth and the non-ultimate truth. Why is it not taught in the Vinaya and so on that non-dual wisdom is the ultimate truth? The Bhagavan does not teach the non-ultimate truth as the ultimate truth, nor does he conceal the ultimate truth. The appearance of the Buddha is devoted to teaching the ultimate truth, and the Buddhas do not have the example of concealing the teacher, because they teach truthfully. Moreover, the Bhagavan also praised that aiming at the truth itself is the transcendental wisdom, because he said: This is the path to bliss, this path is very pure, entering this path can completely cut off desire, and the practitioner can cut off the bonds of Mara. From the scriptures, or from the ultimate truth, the truth of suffering and so on is not the non-ultimate truth, but only the burning of the firewood of clinging to self. It should be said here that the truth of suffering and so on is also the ultimate truth, as has been said. For example, just as cleaning impurities, the truths are taught to abandon afflictions, but it is not considered that it itself is the owner of the ultimate meaning. Abandoning afflictions from cultivating the truth does not become the ultimate truth, because cultivating impurity and so on is also for the purpose of completely abandoning desire and so on. Then, its object, such as bones and so on, will also become the ultimate truth, and at that time, aiming at the worldly path
