One who wishes to perform the ritual should bathe the body well, wear fine, spotless clothes, and eat pure food. The mind should be free from defilements such as afflictions. Believe in the qualities of the Three Jewels and the benefits of the sutras, and generate faith, devotion, and respect. Meditate on the four immeasurables. If one is a householder, take the vows of the eight precepts. Begin on an auspicious day, such as the eighth day of the lunar month. Make the place pleasant and clean. Inside, well-decorated with many umbrellas and banners, create a large incense mandala. Scatter it with colored powder or flowers. It is also acceptable to make a statue, a painting, or a clay figure, and include relics. Arrange worldly and transcendental seats. Arrange offerings as available. In front of each image, place seven lamps and seven five-colored banners. Also prepare incense, flowers, fragrances, food offerings, various musical instruments, the seven precious jewels, the eight auspicious symbols, vases, and so on. Read this sutra and other profound and extensive sutras such as the Prajnaparamita to the best of your ability. This dharani ritual should be recited for seven days, twenty-one days, or forty-nine days. After arranging the offerings in this way, the Sangha gathers and sits on comfortable seats, meditating on emptiness as much as possible. Then, rising, meditate on the four immeasurables for the benefit of all sentient beings, and keep the mind of enlightenment in mind. In this way, also contemplate that one's own ability and the Tathagatas of the ten directions, together with their sons, bless in this way. And, the place where limitless beings, both human and non-human, roam, relying on the joy and great bliss of the Dharma, abiding in that which perfectly accomplishes all the benefit of all sentient beings, free from all defilements of afflictive harm, completely abandoning all demons, a place of Tathagata's adornment surpassing all adornments, arising decisively with mindfulness, intelligence, and great realization, being the chariot of Shamatha and Vipassana, entering from the gate of liberation, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. In the center of the great immeasurable palace relying on the adornment of the precious lotus king with limitless qualities, on the lotus seat, the precious lion throne. Tathagata Name Well-Proclaimed Vast Glorious King, Tathagata Jewel Moon Lotus Utterly Adorned Skillful Splendor Melodious King, Tathagata Excellent Gold Stainless Jewel Light Ascetic Accomplisher, Tathagata No Sorrow Supreme Glory, Tathagata Dharma Proclaimed Ocean Sound, Tathagata Dharma Ocean Supreme Intelligence Skillfully Sporting Manifestly Realized One, Tathagata Medicine Guru Lapis Lazuli Light King, and Bhagavan Shakyamuni and so forth, Tathagatas of the ten directions, Bodhisattvas and holy Dharma protectors, the dwelling place where all are assembled. May the special aspirations of each noble being, accomplished in accordance with their power, only beauty arise. In all inner and outer aspects, may the divine and human offerings, such as food, clothing, ornaments, and music, which are suitable to the lineage, be perfectly and completely filled with all the vast clouds of offerings arising from the Sutra of the Three Heaps and the Aspiration of the Noble Excellent Conduct, possessing adornment and covering. May all the noble ones gather, bless, receive, and enjoy in this way. Recite this three times.
