First, a Bodhisattva with the qualities mentioned earlier, temporarily looking upon helpless sick beings, with compassion wishing to heal them, should observe fasting. At sunrise, in a place adorned with pleasing banners, beautiful with scattered fragrant flowers, with a measure of a bow's length measured by the owner of the land and weights, smear a square mandala. In the center of that, five lotuses should be drawn. There, in the center, with white paint, on the moon of the lotus pistil of the eight-petaled lotus, an eight-spoked wheel with white rays, and on the outside, draw a garland of intertwined wheels. Then in the east, south, west, and north, each according to the appropriate powder colors, red, black, white, and yellow eight-petaled lotuses, in order, draw a vajra, sword, noose, and right-turning conch, and the rays of the respective colors mentioned earlier.
