Possessing true wisdom and light, Constantly benefiting all sentient beings, Likewise possessing true qualities, I pay homage to the protector of the three realms. Due to its dimness, it cannot be known, It eliminates its ignorance, Truly contemplating and truly liberating, I shall explain the hundred thousand commentary. "Thus have I heard, at one time," thus, means without addition or subtraction. I heard, means by Ananda. Without a companion? Heard together with the Shravakas and others. From whom was it heard? From the Bhagavan. What was heard? This Vidya Mantra Queen Mother Great Secret Mantra Following Sutra was heard. Who heard it? Ananda heard it. The word "at one time" has two meanings, indicating that the compiler has great wisdom, and that the arising of the holy Dharma is rare. The Sage is the Bhagavan. Bhagavan means having conquered the four maras. Four means enemies, enemies are the four maras. The four maras are the Skandha Mara, Klesha Mara, Death Mara, and Devaputra Mara. When were they conquered? When dwelling on the Vajra Seat. Possessing means possessing fortune, therefore, Bhagavan. Passed away means having passed away from suffering. Passed away, when was it? On the night of the empty sky of the first month of spring. Abiding in the dwelling place seen in the lotus grove, means in the center of the vast city, there is a palace made by gods, asuras, and non-humans, Each side is a square with five yojanas, with four doors, decorated with eight pillars inside and eight pillars outside, each door is decorated with two lions, and likewise decorated with toranas. In the four directions there are four gardens inside a wall made of seven precious jewels, and each garden has a pond. The names of those gardens are: Joy, Supreme Joy, Universal Joy, and Complete Joy, these four. Similarly, the names of the ponds are also the same. The bottom of the pond is made of lapis lazuli, and the walls and steps are made of seven precious jewels. The water in that pond is as clear and transparent as crystal, sweet to drink, pleasing to the eye, and has the fragrance of sandalwood and camphor, etc. In that pond, there are various kinds of flowers that naturally grow from the water, and they are also adorned with various colors, such as lotuses, white lotuses, and pundarika flowers.
