The Hundred Thousand Commentary on the Sutra of Great Thousandfold Destruction, by Karma Vajra. The Hundred Thousand Commentary on the Sutra of Great Thousandfold Destruction, by Karma Vajra. In Sanskrit: Mahāsāhasrapramardani-sata-sūtra-ṭīkā. In Tibetan: The Hundred Thousand Commentary on the Sutra of Great Thousandfold Destruction. Homage to the Great Thousandfold Destruction! Omniscient and All-Joyous, the very Lama of all beings. Having paid homage to the Accomplished One, I will condense and correctly explain. I shall explain the sutra section of the Great Thousandfold Destruction, the Hundred Thousand Commentary. "Thus have I heard" means that "Thus" is free from exaggeration and denigration. "I have heard" refers to Ānanda. Is he without companions? No, he heard it together with the Śrāvakas and others. From whom did he hear it? From the Bhagavan. What did he hear? He heard this Sutra of Great Thousandfold Destruction. Who heard it? Ānanda heard it. The phrase "At one time" has two meanings: it indicates that the compiler had great wisdom, and that the Holy Dharma is rare to appear. The Teacher is the Bhagavan. The Bhagavan means: Destroyed: Destroyed means four. Four means enemies. Enemies means the four māras. The four māras are the skandha māra, the klesha māra, the death māra, and the deva-putra māra. When did he destroy them? When he was seated at the Vajra Seat. "Endowed" means that he is endowed with good fortune, therefore he is the Bhagavan. "Gone" means that he has passed into nirvāṇa. When did he pass away? On the night of the full moon of the first month of spring. He gave his last testament to the Bodhisattvas, Śrāvakas, and the four assemblies, saying: After I pass into nirvāṇa, my Dharma should be compiled by five hundred Arhats. Then, after the Buddha passed into nirvāṇa, the following summer, five hundred Arhats gathered and discussed the compilation. It was easy to compile the words, but difficult to compile the meaning. Then, one hundred and twenty years later, five hundred Arhats gathered, and King Ajātaśatru acted as the patron, and they compiled the words. At that time, what the Buddha had said was said to have been said, and what he had not said was said to have been said. Then...

The monks discussed, saying, "Even now, we who have directly heard from the Blessed One disagree. In the future, everyone will only add or subtract content. Therefore, three seals should be applied as marks of the Buddha's words: the seal of the verses of discipline, the seal of the three virtues, and the seal of the four Dharma seals. In this 'Great Thousand Worlds Profound and Peaceful Sutra,' the three virtues and the four Dharma seals are applied. O listeners and Bodhisattvas, all the teachings I have spoken, although said to be three paths, the vehicle spoken of is one vehicle." Then, Shariputra stood up, circumambulated the Blessed One three times, and bowed with his head. Shariputra requested, "Please, Blessed One, teach." Blessed One, you said there are three vehicles, so saying there is one vehicle is contradictory. Then, the Blessed One taught, "Shariputra or son of good family, listen. For example, in the past, there was an old man who was very wealthy, rich in resources, possessing wealth like that of Vaishravana. That old man's son was captured by enemies and not found. That old woman was very sad and did not stay in her own hometown but moved to another place and lived there. After many years, one day, that son was very hungry and came to his father like a beggar. The son did not recognize his father, but the father recognized his son and said, 'Son, come here.' The son was afraid and ran away. The father said, 'That one who ran away is my son, catch him.' When people caught him, that son fainted, and he could not breathe from his mouth. When it was time to die, the father said, 'Release him.' That son stood up and left. Later, that son and his friend were called together at some time. At some time, that son also came. He came alone without a friend. He also stayed in that house. At some time, the father said, 'Come and be my son.' The son said, 'Okay.' After a day or two, as time passed, he spoke to the son. The old man said, 'I am a very wealthy merchant, my hometown is Gosham, and my son's name is Immaculate.' When he said these things, the son thought, 'This seems to be my father, this seems to be my home,' and his mind became stable. Just like this analogy, the vehicle is also one vehicle.
