The commentary on the name White Umbrella Born from the Ushnisha of All Tathagatas. Śūraṃgavarma Vajra. The commentary on the name White Umbrella Born from the Ushnisha of All Tathagatas. Śūraṃgavarma Vajra. In Indian language: Sarva tathāgatoshṇīṣa bhāva sitātapatre nāma dhṛtti. (萨尔瓦 塔塔噶托乌什尼萨 巴瓦 悉达塔帕特拉 纳玛 达瑞提,The name Dhṛtti of the White Umbrella Born from the Ushnisha of All Tathagatas). In Tibetan: The commentary on the name White Umbrella Born from the Ushnisha of All Tathagatas. Homage to the noble, invincible, great averter, the supreme achiever. Unconquerable by others, fierce and powerful. Wrathful mother, great power. Great flame, great splendor. Having bowed to the great white flaming garland. In the perfect kalpa, from the crown of the Victorious Ones of samsara and nirvana, the mantra mandala that subdues the auspicious black one, I shall now explain. What should be said here? What is the connection? What is the necessity? What is the necessity of the necessity? It should be said: the four unconditioned wisdoms, the Dharmakaya; the four pure worldly wisdoms, the four families' Sambhogakaya; the nature of the four mandalas, the Nirmanakaya that subdues the four maras, is what should be said. To understand without being devoured by demons is the necessity. The arising of desire from what is said is the connection arising from that. The necessity of the necessity is to obtain the accomplishments of the mundane and supramundane. The condensed meaning is that the mind and what arises from the mind, which are non-dual in the ten directions and three times, are all the Tathagatas. The ushnisha of that, in the ultimate truth, is the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu, and in the conventional truth, it is the meaning of the mantra that arises from the ushnisha, the basis of the wheel of the mandala of secret mantras, vidya mantras, heart mantras, and near-heart mantras, which are protected, rescued, and concealed by Buddhas, Bhagavan, as many as the sands of the Ganges, possessing benefits, virtues, and activities. Having thus explained the necessity and the condensed meaning, the meaning of the branches should be explained: the collector residing in the city of Janglo, the one holding the vajra, the bodhisattva Samantabhadra of the ten bhumis, and Vajradharma, etc.

Then, five hundred excellent garments were spread as cushions. At the moment of turning the wheel of Dharma, where did the Sugata speak? Vajradhara, please speak! Son of Wisdom, please speak! After this request, the opening words, "Thus have I heard," were spoken. The lord of the willows (Avalokiteśvara), the master of the ten bhumis, with his samadhi of unfailing mindfulness, completely remembered all the words and meanings, which is as follows. It was not heard from the retinue, not created by emanation, not obtained through lineage, nor heard through messengers, therefore it is said, "Thus have I heard." It was not composed by myself, but it is taught as what was heard from the Sugata, therefore it is said, "heard." When did you hear it? From which teacher did you hear it? Where did you hear it? With which retinue did you hear it? What is the Dharma that was spoken? Thinking of these, in the conventional truth, it was heard together with this at the same time, because other Dharmas were also heard at other times, therefore much was heard; in the ultimate truth, due to the blessing of the Buddha, in one instant of the final moment, with great wisdom, it was simultaneously ascertained, just like the dream shown by the gods, in a short time, the kalpas of the three times also appear simultaneously, therefore it was at one time. Because he conquered the four maras, he is the Bhagavan (bcom ldan 'das, Sanskrit: Bhagavan, Possessed of Excellence). The ruler of the thirty-three heavens, Indra, the lord of twelve suns, eleven fierce winds, and ten directional guardians, whose heavenly abode is called Sudharma Hall, the gods also gather to listen to the Dharma, therefore it is at the place of assembly. There, there are stream-enterers, once-returners, non-returners, arhats, pratyekabuddhas, and monks who have destroyed afflictions, sons of gods of the desire realm and form realm, those ordained beings with form, who are not swayed by the maras and the gods of the mara's retinue, therefore it is the Sangha. Being numerous by hundreds of thousands of millions, or being great by the qualities of arhats, those who have exhausted defilements, etc., therefore it is great. For the stainless and unborn Bodhi, possessing the perfect wisdom of a Bodhisattva, and the hero who has abandoned the obscurations of afflictions and knowledge, possessing the perfection of abandonment, possessing the perfection of qualities focused on sentient beings, knowing the six superknowledges of eighty-four thousand great kalpas.
