If one is afflicted by the sorrow of afflictions, performing the work of pacification will lead to accomplishment. The phrase "fear and poverty" indicates fear and poverty. Performing the four activities will lead to accomplishment for fears arising from the punishment of the king of sentient beings, the fear of meteorites, the fear of wild animals, the fear of fire and water, the fear of falling stars, and poverty due to lack of protection, and so on. The phrase "planets and stars, curses" indicates curses. Performing rituals for planets and stars will pacify the curses of the eight great planets of the world and the twenty-eight constellations. The phrase "the danger of unpleasant spirits" means that being threatened by eighty thousand spirits, performing the four activities will lead to accomplishment. The phrase "born of sorrow and toil, even if one sees sinful dreams" means that being tormented by the inverted evil views of afflicted sentient beings, or being exhausted in body and mind and becoming drowsy, if one dreams of sinful imprints in sleep, performing the four activities will lead to accomplishment. The phrase "therefore, thorough cleansing is purity" indicates the method of the ritual. After the mandala ritual is completed, the master empowers and bathes the disciple's head with a vase of nectar, and all impurities and so on will be removed. Purity means the absence of afflictions. The phrase "recite the sacred sutras" means that the disciple should generate the mind of enlightenment, listen to the meaning of the sutras, and be made to contemplate the deity. The phrase "whoever has a good mind and compassion, and is adorned with pure clothes" means that the master should dress the disciple in clean clothes such as cotton or white silk, and adorn them with many ornaments such as fragrant flowers. The phrase "the profound realm of the Buddha's activity, if this sutra is heard" indicates the benefits of listening to the great Dharma, and encourages and exhorts. This is saying that one should read, uphold, proclaim to others, and practice this king of sutras. The phrase "by the splendor of this sutra, all living beings" means that by the power of listening to and practicing this sutra, the forms of afflictions and suffering can be eliminated.

It pacifies all distinctions. Even the unpleasant aggregates, all of them are viewed as peaceful. This is to pacify the unpleasant afflictive habitual patterns of all sentient beings in the three realms, as well as the nature of diseases. Thus, after the disease is pacified, the sign of obtaining happiness is shown thereafter: life and merit will increase, and one will be liberated from all sins. This is to avert the exhaustion of life or death, etc., of all sentient beings. By listening to, contemplating, or meditating on this sutra, life and merit will increase immeasurably. Up to this point, the method and benefits of the ritual have been explained. Now, the ritual and conditions for the vase are shown: jewels, mustard seeds, durva grass, etc. Jewels refer to pearls, dzi stones, and coral. Mustard seeds are the chief of the five grains: barley, soybeans, sesame, and peas. Durva grass is an ornament. Its category includes bird-beak incense, white sandalwood, etc., which are branches of trees. Precious flawless sandalwood, etc., this refers to the five precious substances and the five essences. The five precious substances are gold, crystal, indranila sapphire, and coral. Flawless refers to those without defects. Sandalwood refers to musk, saffron, camphor, and agarwood. These five are the five fragrances. Crystal and vajra flowers, etc., this refers to the essences. Fire crystal and water crystal, the essence of trees is butter, the essence of fruits is cane sugar, the essence of flowers is honey, these are the five essences. The vajra flower is the seat of the vase. In summer, make a mandala of flowers; in winter, make a mandala of five colors. Or use grains. With water, or gold, or even a silver vase is also acceptable. Wrap it with a clean cloth and fill it. This refers to the material of the vase. For the king, a golden vase; for the ministers, a silver vase. The phrase "also acceptable" means many. For the common people, make it from copper or earth. A clean cloth refers to a new cloth that has not been used. Recite twenty-one times, or one hundred and eight times the Vajra Vidarana (རྡོ་རྗེ་རྣམ་འཇོམས་, vajra viḍāraṇa, 金刚摧破). This refers to the number of recitations. For the king and ministers, one hundred and eight times. For the lower ministers or common people, recite twenty-one times. For the lowest common people, recite seven times.
