A Commentary on the Vajra Vidarana Dharani. Bimala Mitra. A Commentary on the Vajra Vidarana Dharani. Bimala Mitra. In Sanskrit: Vajra Vidarana Nama Dharani Tika. In Tibetan: A Commentary on the Vajra Vidarana Dharani. Homage to glorious Vajrapani! To the holder of the secret treasury of all the Buddhas, to the essence that reveals the meaning of the tantras, having bowed with reverence through the three doors, I wish to compose a commentary on the sutra. Here, 'vajra' refers to true wisdom, it refers to destroying all phenomena characterized by permanence and impermanence, pleasure and pain. This is the meaning of 'destroying'. 'Dharani' refers to the inseparability of the realm of reality and wisdom. Thus, having taught the sutra, now I will explain the meaning of the necessary connections, for the sake of teaching without error: the teacher, the completely pure retinue, the place where it is taught, the compiler who compiles without error, and the meaning of the sutra that is taught. Here, the teacher is the Bhagavan, who, although not moved from the vajra-like samadhi of his mind, in order to bring forth his own greatness, blessed his own true son, the secret lord Vajrapani, to speak. Within the boundless Buddhafields, this meaning of the Vajra Vidarana, because it was obtained from Vajrapani, is why it is said, 'Thus I have heard, at one time.' Because it possesses the teacher, the retinue, and the compiler, it is called 'time.' Because it was not spoken many times, but spoken in a hundred ways, it is called 'at one time.' 'The Bhagavan dwells in the vajra' refers to subduing the four maras. Or, the Bhagavan abides in a samadhi like a vajra. 'By the power of the Buddha' refers to entering into samadhi. 'Vajrapani, having blessed all bodies as vajras' refers to being uncompounded like the true wisdom vajra. 'Entering into vajra samadhi' refers to abiding in the essence of true wisdom. Then, Vajrapani, by the power of the Buddha
