The Ritual of the Mandala of Cremation Fire Offering for Purifying All Bad Rebirths. Dharma Kirti. The Ritual of the Mandala of Cremation Fire Offering for Purifying All Bad Rebirths. Dharma Kirti. In Sanskrit: Sarva Durgati Parishodhana Mara Homa Mandala Upayika. In Tibetan: The Ritual of the Mandala of Cremation Fire Offering for Purifying All Bad Rebirths. Homage to the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, King Who Purifies All Bad Rebirths. The Lord Who Goes to Bliss and the First Son, as well as the remaining Buddha-sons and the mothers of the lineage, inner and outer goddesses and gatekeepers, I prostrate and offer with the best of all things. Having gathered from the root tantra, the method of cremation for the sake of the dead, which purifies all bad rebirths, relying on the secret order of the Buddha, I will explain. First, having pleased the precious lama, he will enter the mandala and bestow empowerment and vows, abiding in the common and special vows, having practiced the approach according to the order of one's own sadhana, having recited the mantra and seen the signs, in order to liberate oneself and others from the ocean of samsara, one should enter the activity of the mandala. Having gathered all the implements of the mandala, auspicious dates and stars, etc., in order to observe the signs of the mandala ground, one should examine it with companions. Temples, markets, this place, the east and north of the city courtyard should be started. Or the ground should be good, without faults such as oil and thorns, leaning towards the east and north, flowers full of water, pure in nature. Or it should be done according to the yogi's pleasure. Then enter the samadhi of the main deity and make the mandala by falling in a heap. Make outer and inner offerings to the Three Jewels and give torma to the worldly protectors, then visualize the ground as square and visualize the earth deity and dig. In the three months of autumn, dig facing north. In the three months of winter, dig facing east. In the three months of spring, dig facing south. In the three months of summer, dig facing west, and if you visualize it as the abdomen, abandon the head, back, and buttocks. Remove the five tastes of the earth, etc., and level it.

Or mix fragrant substances with earth, or mix fragrant substances with water, fill it by reciting the Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hūṃ) syllable and knead it into a ball. On top of a surface as flat as the palm of your hand, visualize a celestial palace complete with ornaments. Envision many ornaments such as garlands of flowers. Place medicine, grains, and precious jewels in the center, having recited the mantra of the main deity. All the pain of stinging, if you are unable to remove it, clap your hands and recite this mantra. You will attain great accomplishment. Great houses, caves, cow sheds, temples, and the like, five places by the side of flowing water, do not need purification. Meditate on yourself as the main deity, and dispel obstacles with the mantra of the wrathful deity. Recite over water, mustard seeds, and ashes, anoint with the five essences of a cow, and sprinkle with scented water. Place medicine and jewels in the center, having recited the secret mantra of the wrathful deity seven times. This is the ritual for purifying the ground. Then, with pure faith, purify with inner ablution. First, the mantra practitioner, wishing to purify his own speech, should contemplate as follows: On the tongue, from the syllable Paṃ (པཾ, Devanagari: प, Romanized Sanskrit: paṃ, Literal meaning: Paṃ) arises a lotus flower. On top of that, from the syllable A (ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A), arises a mandala of the moon. From Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hūṃ) arises a five-pronged vajra. The vajra dissolves onto the tongue, and it is called the Vajra Tongue. Reciting mantras will have power. In the palms of both hands, visualize two moons. That also is from the syllable A (ཨ, Devanagari: अ, Romanized Sanskrit: a, Literal meaning: A). From Hūṃ (ཧཱུྃ, Devanagari: हुं, Romanized Sanskrit: hūṃ, Literal meaning: Hūṃ) arises a five-pronged vajra. Extremely white, it dissolves into the hands, and it is called the Vajra Hand. Whatever mudra you make, bind it. Taking the vajra and bell in the left hand and placing it on the hand, the vajra is compassion, bodhicitta. The bell is regarded as the embodiment of emptiness. Having meditated in this way, shake it over the crown of the head and bestow empowerment. Then lower it and proclaim it in the ten directions. Then raise it upwards and shake it three times. The two embrace each other. The vajra is raised three times. Stabilize it in the heart, invite it. The sound of the bell creates delight. Doing it in that way generates power. Choose an auspicious time such as a good constellation. The teacher does the yoga of his own deity. Sitting in the center of the mandala, dispel obstacles with the sequence of accomplishment. Complete the circle of protection. From the heart arises the emanation of the mandala. From the wheel emanates a serpent. Contemplate it pervading the realm of space. Then make this supplication to it.
