A Treatise on the Twelve Aspects of Cultivating Bodhicitta. Composed by Jampal Shenyen A Treatise on the Twelve Aspects of Cultivating Bodhicitta. Composed by Jampal Shenyen In Sanskrit: Bodhicitta Bhava Artha Dvadasa Nirdesa. In Tibetan: A Treatise on the Twelve Aspects of Cultivating Bodhicitta. Homage to the Three Jewels. Here, the cultivation of bodhicitta is shown through twelve aspects: paying homage, why one should realize, what one should realize, by what one should realize, upon what one should examine and then realize, showing the meaning of certainty after examination, cultivating the meaning of certainty, realizing the meaning of certainty through the means of transmission, showing that if one is not sustained by bodhicitta, one will not attain liberation and virtuous deeds will be wasted, obtaining many qualities even by merely generating faith, showing the place to generate compassion for those who have entered the wrong path, and dedicating the roots of virtue, etc. Among these, there are also three aspects of paying homage: paying homage to the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. The teacher Jampal Shenyen (འཇམ་དཔལ་བཤེས་གཉེན།) composed this to prevent obstacles and to bring it to completion, so it is shown in one verse. Among these, paying homage to the Buddha: "The two selflessnesses are the Sugata, the non-conceptual wisdom, the Dharmadhatu body." This shows that realizing the two selflessnesses of person and phenomena without error is the non-conceptual wisdom of the Sugata. By obtaining this wisdom, one also obtains the body whose object of knowledge is inseparable from the Dharmadhatu. Paying homage to the Dharma: "The nature of all is peace, in this there is no elimination or acceptance, it is the supreme path." It is said that the nature of all defilements and purifications is the pacification of all elaborations. In this, there is no fault to be eliminated, and no quality to be accepted. That which has no acceptance or rejection is the supreme among the paths of liberation. Paying homage to the Sangha: "The ten powers of the irreversible ground, etc., are attained as one with all the victorious ones." It is said that the first ground does not regress in samsara, the eighth ground does not regress in signs, and so on. The Bodhisattva who abides on the tenth ground has power over life and power over karma.

, and possessing wealth and so on. Having obtained the ten freedoms, realizing all Buddhas and the realm of Dharma, one attains all through one. To that equality of the three places, one reveres with great faith through a mind without characteristics. As it is said, the place of prostration is the Three Jewels. The nature of Dharma is the unerring path, which is to be known. Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are those who know it, because it is said that "the knower and the known are not different," therefore it is equal, and ultimately non-dual. Therefore, one prostrates with an intention that does not cling to characteristics, with initial faith, and with devotion that ascertains the truth as it is. The second meaning is explained: Why should one realize it? Because the benefits are great. The benefits are also of three kinds: the benefit of being the cause, the excellent benefit of the manifested result, and the excellent path that is the basis of all fruits of liberation. Among them, the benefit of being the cause is: The teacher becomes the lamp of the world, and all equally praise it. As it is said and so on, the teachers of gods and humans, who have become the lamp of wisdom that dispels the darkness of the inner and outer world, all equally praise the mind of enlightenment as having great benefits. How is it praised? For the essence of Dharma that has become the essence of Dharma, this essence of Manjushri Kumara, whether the Tathagatas appear or do not appear, the Dharma nature of all Dharmas is naturally abiding, and has become the essence of all Dharmas, is called Manjushri Kumara. Why is it called Manjushri? Because it is gentle due to the absence of pain, and realizing it becomes the glory of all sentient beings. Subduing means purity, because it is not defiled by faults and stains. The essence is what was mentioned above, because it is the essence of all Dharmas. Called Manjushri, unerringly realizing the nature of the mind of enlightenment, because it is the source of all Buddhas. All Sugatas become its mother, it is the one path of all victors. As it is said, without realizing this path, one cannot attain Buddhahood through other paths. The practice of the Paramita path, such as discipline, becomes the basis of wonders.
