Commentary on the Glorious First One, by Kunga Nyingpo. Commentary on the Glorious First One By Kunga Nyingpo In Sanskrit: Śrīparamādyabibaraṇaṃ. In Tibetan: Commentary on the Glorious First One. Homage to the Bhagavan Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta! The realm of the great Vajradhara, Good without beginning or end! As spoken in the tantra of the Glorious First One, Summarizing the Dharmakāya and so forth. To the great Vajradhara, full of faith, I pay homage again and again, So that beings may attain that state, I shall explain it by thoroughly distinguishing its aspects. Regarding the words "Thus have I heard," and so forth, what is to be expressed by this arrangement of words? What is the connection? What is the need? And what is the need of the need? Answer: The name of this tantra is "Glorious First One." The Glorious First One is the nature of the Dharmakāya and so forth, abiding eternally like the entirety of the realm of space, the Vajras of body, speech, and mind, abiding in the hearts of all the Tathāgatas. The Bhagavan Vairocana is the great Vajradhara; it is the very nature of what is to be expressed by him. The collection of sounds that reveal it is the tantra. The expressed content of the tantra and the nature of that which reveals it is the connection. The Bhagavan's arising of desire in those to be tamed is the need. And having aroused desire, entering the mandala and so forth, one will obtain the fruits of this world and the world beyond, which is said to be the need of the need. Thus, in order for the Bhagavan to abandon desire through desire for sentient beings, the samaya is blessed as a great-minded hero, abiding in the manner of the great Vajra mandala, in the manner of secret mantras and so forth. In order to tame sentient beings of good nature, it abides in the mandala of the Tathāgata and in the manner of secret mantras. In order to abandon anger through anger, it is in the manner of being victorious in the three realms. In order to abandon wrong views, it is in the mandala and mantra manner of the noble Avalokiteśvara. And in order to thoroughly abandon miserliness and all

In order to accomplish everything completely, through the mandala and mantra methods of the noble Akashagarbha. In order to unify the characteristics of body, speech, and mind, through the methods such as the mantra of the mandala of the noble Vajramushti. If the Dharma is not separated from selflessness, everything will be accomplished, to show this, and if one possesses Prajnaparamita, everything will be prosperous, to show this, through the mandala of the noble Manjushri and methods such as mantras. To show that without entering the mandala, the method of secret mantra will not be accomplished, through the mandala of the noble Vajrachakra and methods such as secret mantras. Accomplishment will occur through offerings, but not without a gathering, to show this, through the mandala of the noble Akashagarbha and the method of secret mantra. In order to show that if one can subdue the demons, such as the sons of external gods, who are the opponents of all afflictions, in the aspects of virtue, then accomplishment will occur, the noble Vajrayaksha abides in the manner of the mandala and mantras. In order to enter all mandalas by entering one mandala, and to show that the nature of everything is me, it abides in the manner of the condensed mandala. The peaceful mandala and the mandalas of the first three Mother Tantras and the four Sister Tantras are for the purpose of making beings who have faith in them happy. Having manifested in this way, it is for the purpose of entering the teachings through the gateway of meaning. Among them, Vajrasattva is the Svabhavikakaya, and that itself is the Dharmakaya, the mirror-like wisdom of non-duality, possessing the marks and signs of the Tathagata, and the nature of all bodies is also the nature of the completely pure Dharmadhatu. Vajrahumkara, Vajramushti, and Vajrayaksha are Nirmanakaya, the nature of the wisdom of accomplishing activities. The noble Avalokiteshvara and...

Immediately upon arising, the turning of the Dharma wheel is the Sambhogakaya, the very nature of discriminating wisdom. The noble Akashagarbha and Akashakosa are the Nirmanakaya, the very nature of equality wisdom. The noble Manjushri also abides inseparably with the Prajnaparamita by nature, therefore, here it is the characteristic of the non-dual mind, belonging to the category of the Svabhavikakaya. Worldly mandalas and the like are also the nature of the Nirmanakaya, the very nature of the wisdom of accomplishing activities. Moreover, the empowerment of Vajrasattva is considered the Svabhavikakaya. The empowerment of Vajraratna is the marks and signs. The empowerment of Vajradharma is also the Sambhogakaya. The empowerment of Vajrakarma is likewise the Nirmanakaya. Thus it is said. Vairochana is the collection of all Buddhas. How are the mandala of mirror-like wisdom and the like, and the mandala of tantras and mantras and the like, established as Svabhava? By the principle of the near designation of cause and effect, it is shown near to its homogeneous cause, as it is said: Form is emptiness, emptiness is form. Therefore, there is no fault. Taking the nature of the Samaya mudra as the nature, the second part is the method of the great bliss Vajra supreme Samaya sacred mandala seventeen-syllable mantra and the like, similarly, the Tathagata and, the extremely joyful Vajra and, the Wrathful One and, the World Lord and, the Akashagarbha and, the condensed mandala and, the three names and, the four women and, the Deva and, the Naga and, the method of the secret mandala is that itself, and again, these themselves, from the conceptualization, due to the power of karmic obscurations, in order to quickly accomplish those who have not been accomplished as stated in the first part. The great bliss Vajra great mandala and, the Tathagata and, the Vajra blazing like fire and, Avalokiteshvara and, the Akashagarbha and,
