"The Extensive Explanation of the Condensed Essence of Reality, The Ornament of Kosala." Shakya Shenyen. "The Extensive Explanation of the Condensed Essence of Reality, The Ornament of Kosala." Shakya Shenyen. Thus, in the manner described above, it was shown that one attains the King of Dharma, unsurpassed in realizing the Great Vehicle with supreme realization, and achieves unsurpassed victory over the three realms. In order to show the arrangement of the abodes of those who have attained victory, it is then said, "Then, the Blessed One," and so on. "Then" refers to the situation. Among the beings of the three realms who have attained victory, the Great God is supreme, and he has entered into all mandalas, and is situated under the soles of Vajrapani's feet, separated from his life force. Therefore, in order to be liberated from him, the Blessed One, all the Tathagatas, gathered together. In order to supplicate for victory over the three realms, they had gathered before, and in consideration of that, it is said, "again." "Knowing full well" means, "This one is not dead, and if we urge him, he will not devour demons," thus knowing full well. The great Bodhisattva Vajrapani was told, "Blessed One, listen to the command of all the Tathagatas." What is the command to be heard? "Release this body of the Great God from under your feet." This is the command to be heard. After being commanded thus, the Blessed One Vajrapani supplicated all the Tathagatas, saying, "I have been empowered by the Blessed One as the wrathful one to subdue all the unruly, and I have killed him, how can I release him?" After the Blessed One Vajrapani supplicated thus, all the Tathagatas, in order to revive the body of the Great God, spoke this essence of summoning the consciousness of the dead. "Dead" refers to fainting. His consciousness, through the consciousness of falling asleep, generates the appearance called dream in other places, other realms, and other directions. That falling asleep is dreaming.

Whatever is seen as the cause that awakens, that (cause) is called awakening, as it is the cause arising from the previous basis of that consciousness. For example, a body seized by poison remains motionless, as if oppressed by deep sleep. Its consciousness also faints, and remains without awareness, as if covered by thick darkness. The son of the gods in the realm of darkness, intoxicated by poison, is dispelled by some mantra practitioners, and he dispels that faint, therefore it is called dispelling the darkness of that consciousness. In order to generate clear awareness in that body, it is also called the entry of consciousness. Similarly, here too, the body of the Great Lord remains in a faint state as if oppressed by poison and sleep, and his consciousness, by the power of the yogis' absorption in yoga, in the world called covered by ashes, like the consciousness in a dream, thinks that it has gone to other beings and places, and that his own body has gone. Similarly, in that world covered by ashes, one appears as a Buddha, thinking as if dreaming. Then, what this essence speaks of as dream-like consciousness, projected by yoga through meditation, is considered death, the consciousness like a reversal of sleep, that arising like a Tathagata, is taken out from under the soles of Vajrapani's feet, the blessing of the yogi is condensed, and like waking up from sleep, again the body of the Great Lord, born from the matured form, arises with the separate thought that it is oneself. Like this, this is called summoning the consciousness of the dead. Then, the binding of the mudra here is explained: having made the secret iron hook binding, etc. The secret iron hook is the vajra bound inside, with two fingers grasping the posture of the iron hook. After binding in that way, the ends are stretched out together, that is, the two little fingers are stretched out together. Placing it on the head of the dead, that is, placing it on the crown of the head of the fainted one. The mantra practitioner thinks with his mind, by what cause beings are fainted.
