The Song of Doha Treasure. The Song of Doha Treasure. In Sanskrit: Doha Kosha Gita. In Tibetan: The Song of Doha Treasure. Homage to youthful Manjushri. Those without fortune, like venomous snakes, surely laugh at noble beings with the stain of faults, one should fear them at the mere sight. Those Brahmins who do not know this, recite the root of the Gina race, purify with earth, water, and kusha grass, dwell in homes and burn fire, perform meaningless fire offerings, which harm the eyes with smoke. The staff and trident are well-formed, shown with difference and faith, unable to equally know dharma and non-dharma, all beings are misled into falsehood. Having smeared the body with ashes of Era, they carry a burden of matted hair on their heads, dwell in homes with lamps lit, sit in seclusion and ring bells, sit in lotus posture and close their eyes, whispering in the ears to deceive people. Showing themselves to others as husbandless and hairless, they bestow empowerments and take the offerings of the guru, with long nails and bodies covered in dirt, naked and with disheveled hair, the form of the harmful sky-minded ones on the path, deceiving themselves for the sake of liberation. If liberation were attained by nakedness, why would dogs and foxes not be liberated? If liberation were attained by plucking hair, women who pluck hair should be liberated. If liberation were attained by raising the tail, peacocks and yaks should be liberated. If liberation were attained by standing and eating, why not horses and elephants? They say that those who shoot arrows at the sky-minded ones never have liberation. Separated from the very nature of bliss, possessing only physical asceticism, those called novice monks, monks, and elders, after the monks have thus renounced, some engage in explaining the sutras, some are seen holding the way of one-pointed mind, some run to the Great Vehicle, that is a treatise of scriptural measure. Others also meditate on the entire mandala wheel, some engage in explaining the meaning of the fourth, some appear to contemplate the realm of space, others also practice emptiness, mostly entering into an incompatible direction. With the innate and separate, who else can attain nirvana?

Whatever is meditated upon, none of those truly makes the other accomplished. Whoever is devoted to whatever, does he attain liberation by abiding in meditation? What need is there for a lamp? What need is there for offerings to the gods? What is to be done with that? What need is there for the teachings of secret mantras? There is no need to go down steps or perform austerities. Does one attain liberation by entering the water? Whoever enters emptiness devoid of compassion, he does not find the supreme path. However, even if one meditates only on compassion, one remains in samsara and does not attain liberation. Whoever is able to unite the two, does not abide in samsara and does not abide in nirvana. Alas! Abandon what is said to be false and inverted, and also let go of whatever attachment you have. If you become realized, everything is that, and no one else can know it. Reading is that, holding and meditating are that, and explaining the scriptures in the heart is also that. There is no view that cannot be shown, but one relies solely on the face of the guru. The words of the guru that enter the heart are like seeing a treasure in the palm of one's hand. Without seeing the innate nature, delusion deceives children, saying that the arrow has been shot. There is no meditation and no renunciation. Staying at home with wives, if one is not freed from the bonds of worldly pleasures, one says that the arrow has been shot, now know that it is that. If it is manifest, what need is there for meditation? If it is hidden, one measures the darkness. The co-emergent nature itself is neither existent nor non-existent, so one says that the arrow has been shot, constantly calling out to the abyss. Whatever is taken and undergoes birth, death, dwelling, and change, by taking that, one attains the supreme great bliss, so one says that the arrow has been shot in a loud voice, but how can sentient beings understand? Without meditation, what is there to think about? How can what is unspeakable be spoken? The seal of existence deceives all beings, but even though the innate nature remains, it is not taken. Without tantra, without mantra, without thought, without meditation, all of those are the cause of confusing one's own mind. Do not defile the mind of innate speech with meditations, may my own self abide in bliss and not suffer. Rejoicing in eating, drinking, and sleeping.
