Showing the way to speak by observing the nature of secret mantras Showing the way to speak by observing the nature of secret mantras Now, I will show the way to speak by observing the nature of secret mantras. Here, any son or daughter of a family who has faith in the profound nature of skillful means and wisdom, who practices through the door of secret mantras, who desires to accomplish the benefit of all sentient beings through the door of knowledge-mantras, secret mantras, and complete satisfaction, and who desires to quickly attain perfect and complete enlightenment, and who, through skillful means of practice, desires to combine the profound path of uniting skillful means and wisdom simultaneously, should first of all rely on a virtuous friend who teaches the Great Vehicle without error, Enter the secret mandala shown by him, and at that time, taking the vows of individual liberation as the basis, which are common and uncommon vows, also take the vows of a Bodhisattva and the vows of a Vidyadhara, and also receive the instructions for the means of accomplishment in accordance with the precepts. From then on, without slackening enthusiasm, one should abide in diligence and strive in this yoga. The order of yoga is as follows: In any mantra chamber or clean place, a pedestal carved with jewels, one cubit or more, should be well cleaned. There, if an image or painted image of the noble Manjushri is available, it should be invited to reside. Flower garlands and various offerings should also be arranged as available, and one should sit comfortably on a cushion. First of all, in the morning, after getting up, one should contemplate whether the vows previously taken have been broken or not. For those that have been broken, one should consider whether it is appropriate to confess them, or to act in accordance with the way they were previously taken. Those that have not been broken should be strengthened. Then, one should also firmly take before the noble ones the generation of Bodhicitta and the firm holding of vows that arise from that power. Then, one should generate the mind of entering into enlightenment. Thus, one should meditate on the five stages of manifest enlightenment. Among them, first, for a while, one should combine them through the door of mirror-like wisdom:

Just as in a clear mirror, various images appear distinctly, so too, on the mind of enlightenment, which is the concordant cause of the utterly pure realm of phenomena, the various realms of sentient beings appear like reflections. Having seen this, for the sake of their benefit, one should generate great compassion focused on sentient beings. Then, one should unite it with the wisdom of equality, saying: 'Since all phenomena are pure in their own nature, I too am completely pure in my own nature.' One should say thus, and unite all phenomena, which are without self, into equality. Then, by reciting: Akaro mukham sarva dharmanam adyanutpannata (Tibetan, Sanskrit Devanagari: अकारोमुखंसर्वधर्माणामाद्यनुत्पन्नता, Sanskrit Romanization: ākāro mukhaṃ sarva dharmāṇāmādya nutpannatā, Literal Chinese meaning: A is the head of all dharmas, unproduced from the beginning), one should meditate on generating the power of the wisdom of individual discernment, which realizes the characteristic of understanding all phenomena as selfless, the great compassion focused on phenomena, and the wisdom of equality shown above. Immediately after that, one should meditate in accordance with the wisdom of the realm of phenomena, which is utterly pure, liberated from grasping and being grasped, luminous by its own nature, and endowed with non-objective compassion. Then again, one should manifest the non-objective great compassion, which is devoid of activity for the sake of sentient beings, illogical, transformed by the power of past aspirations and sentient beings, and the wisdom of diligent activity. Then, one should cause the result concordant with the two types of bodhicitta, the characteristic of the union of skillful means and wisdom, to manifestly enter into the very activity of the Tathagatas. In the very nature of space, in the center of space, contemplate the essence of the vowels A (ཨཱ, ā, 啊) and the consonants Ka (ཀ, ka, 嘎), naturally luminous like an illusion, resembling stars. From that transformation, contemplate the great syllable Hum (ཧཱུྃ, hūṃ, 吽) as the nature of Samantabhadra's bodhicitta, blue in color, possessing a garland of light rays, intertwined with a garland of blazing wrathful ones. Moreover, from the tip of its light rays, emanate the Tathagatas, who go in all directions. After the emanations of the Buddhas have accomplished the work of benefit, they return and dissolve into that very Hum. From that transformation, it is made into a great wisdom vajra. That vajra possesses six legs, possesses color, and in its six doors reside the six Buddha-fields, such as the joy of the Buddhas. Its blazing splendor illuminates the realms.
