The concise explanation of the glorious Vajrabhairava Tantra, by Sona Shri. The concise explanation of the glorious Vajrabhairava Tantra. Sona Shri. Firstly, the explanation of the contemplation of teaching the mandala. In Indian language: Śrīvajrabhairavatantra pañjikā nāma. In Tibetan: The concise explanation of the glorious Vajrabhairava Tantra. Homage to the Bhagavan, glorious Vajrabhairava! Vajrabhairava, the protector and auspicious one, I bow to the lotus feet of the Guru. I will compose a concise explanation of the king of tantras that has been spoken. In "thenceforth" and so on, the word "thenceforth" here should be understood as immediately following. But if that is the case, how does the beginning of the tantra start from the pure state of "Thus have I heard"? Because the word "thenceforth" is spoken, it is to prove that immediately after the practice of the great Bhairava in the Manjushri Tantra of eighteen thousand verses, this is the numbered tantra, so "thenceforth" is especially added at the beginning of the tantra. In the term "also to be well explained," the true meaning of "also" here refers to recitation, mandalas, fire offerings, meditation, and actions. The so-called Vajrabhairava Sadhana is: Vajra emptiness well proclaimed, Bhairava action Vajra desired, Its self-nature this practice, Vajra Bhairava union thus. This means that emptiness and Vajra are inseparable, and the essence of Vajrasattva is Vajrabhairava. Its sadhana is to practice with the essence of the deity Vajrabhairava, and having done so, in the text, this tantra becomes the tantra, because it enables detailed understanding. The so-called "violent one" is because the mind is untamed. The so-called "Bhairava" is because the form is unpleasant. The so-called "single wood" means that the handle of that tree cannot be recognized by other trees. The so-called "subjugation, attraction, and killing" and so on are brief words. Detailed explanation means that various attainments will be explained. The color of the ashes of burnt corpses is white. Black is from the charcoal of burnt corpses. Yellow is from orpiment.

It is called the four gates because emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, and non-action, these four gates of liberation are completely pure, so they are called the four gates. Adorned with four horse stands means that the four dhyanas are completely pure. In order to understand that all dharmas are emptiness, the sound of the bell is rung. The nine branches of scripture are completely pure, so there are nine banners. The five objects of desire are completely pure, so it is endowed with fragrant flower garlands. If at some time the yogi does not achieve success due to the power of non-merit, then at that time some small actions must be done.
